Hey, I thought it might be a good idea to ask you riders from in and around Edmonton what you think about some of the dealers here.

Good experiences, bad experiences, general feel for service, selection, price, whatever comes to mind.

Just seemed like it would be good to have a place to post and read about this kinda stuff. Share away!

Never ever deal with Absolute Custom in the west end.

The guy's business is ripping people off for his own mistakes.
He replaced my tail lights and left the wires exposed under the fencer with nothing more than electrical tape joining them. Suprise suprise, when I went through water and it splashed under the fender, they got wet and shorted out.
I took it back to have him re-do the work, and he wouldn't give me back my bike until I paid for 30min labour, because he also had to "troubleshoot the burnt out bulbs"...

I bought a bike from Honda Extreme, they gave me a good deal, and maintenance has been cheap compared to other places. If I get another Honda I'll be going back there.

I was going to buy from Scona Cycle, but they jacked me around in an epic fashion. They made it very clear they didn't need my business, so they don't get it.

Alberta Cycle sold me my first bike, but they seem to have gone, "big business," it's no longer a nice fun place to hang out. Just a place to go and look at the bikes. Sigh.

Riverside was good, but when I went in looking for a small first bike I commented a V-star 650 seems big for me. The dealers suggested that I get a Marauder 800... because a V-star won't tour well, once you get a windshield on it... it doesn't go anywhere. LoL.

All in all Honda Extreme has been my favorite.

Kawasaki: Got my bike at Cycleworks and everyone there's been great so far. Quite helpful, always willing to stop & chat if I pop in. Offered to pass around the word on selling my 2001 bike if I wanted them to (ended up not needing to). My friends got their bikes at Echo and were happy with the people they dealt with there.

Gear: Found the selections at Argyll, Riverside and Alberta Cycle to be good whereas some of the others were more limited especially later on in the season. I wanted a pair of pricey gloves I saw at Scona Cycle (no one else had them on display) but no one would help me out there so I ended up looking up the brand # in the catalogue myself and going elsewhere to order them.

ECHO CYCLE(west end) SALES DEPARTMENT IS OK, BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS DEPLORABLE. CYCLE WORKS IS NO BETTER EITHER(no offence KC). I HAD TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO LEDUC TO GET MY BIKE SERVICED.

Thanks, I saw that thread, I'll have to start checking regularly and meet up with you guys sometime after I get back from my next trip.

I figure I should post the little experience I've had as well. Got my gear at Riverside, had quite a bit of selection and I think I got a pretty good deal on it. Argyll seemed pretty good too, they were helpful when I ordered my cover through them.

The worst I can report so far is Echo Cycle giving me the wrong part when I asked them for a drain plug gasket for my bike (which I found out when I tried it).

Nah - never offended chok, you should know that. Good to know as I haven't had to do any servicing as of yet. And if I have to hit Leduc someday for servicing, I will. Hey, when you gonna catch up with us again since you are missing Canmore (the mountains, ya!) for Winnipeg?

i bought my bike from turple bros here in red deer. by far one of the best places i have boughten anything from. anything i wanted to know the knowledgeable staff was there to help me.

i went in, found the bike i had wanted. it was a really smooth easy transaction.

not too sure if they are my favorite anymore, dropped my bike off for my first service checkup , and they want 300$... i thought it would be free. take care of it myself from now on. "bloody" jews

Well lets see for sales IMO I would say Alberta Cycle and Riverside to be the best for sales and knowledge. As for bad sales I would def say Argyll, I went there with the wife to look at sv650's the dude knew that and tried to sell us a gsxr, we ignored him and walked over to the sv's, the salesman then started going on to my wife about getting more hp out of the sv with aftermarket exhausts and that she would love riding at 160 km/h after her telling him no she wouldnt and didnt care about the hp he kept it up, so I said nice sales tactics and left. So i bought my 650 bandit in Saskatchewan cuz no one in Edm had the bike i wanted.
