Sunday August 6 , 2007. Anyone up for a ride? How 'bout the Okotokes, Millarville, 762, hwy 66, Bragg Creek ice-cream run? Due to the lack of notice and time to get our sh!t together I'll call a meeting place of the new Canadian Tire parking lot at 130 AVE S.E. (take Deerfoot Trail to 130 Ave - then first left). Lets get together at 10:00am before blasting off to Okotokes. Have the tank full before you get there and be prepared to ride your own ride. Depending if I get called to work or if we can get a babysitter, there will either be a red VTR Honda there with me on it and a red / white duck with Mrs. High_Side on it, one or the other or me on the duck. Confused? How bad can it be? See you at 10am Sunday. Hope you can all make it.

I'm in!!
I'll be up at 5am for it. :D Ya, I do actually have to get up a 5am Sunday morning (Andrea will be off to San Diego) and I'll be making bacon and eggs. :D
130th Ave SE?? Hey, whatever happened to a "central location!" that's the edge of the boonies! I'll have to fill up there as if I fill up in the inner-city I'll be down a 1/6th of a tank getting there.. haha.
Umm, don't you mean 549 (22) as that goes from Okotokes to Black Diamond to Turner Valley to Millarville, not 762? I don't see 762 on a map anywhere??
Mike. |

Hey guys, yep, I'm jealous. You probably have all kinds of twisty roads in around your area to hit - way more than over here. Just chatting with one of our riders tonight and the big complaint was our lack of twisty roads. We're meeting for brekkie tomorrow at 9:00 before our ride (likely on some straight roads no doubt). Next time we'll have to set up a meet like in Red Deer or Sylvan!
High Side - know any good roads this a way...? |

The trouble with central is that there are no good roads in the middle of Calgary. WE WANT TO GO OUT OF TOWN! It just so happens that I live on the end of town where this particular ride is starting......what are the odds of that ????

Yep, 549 goes from the 'tokes to Turner Valley, then we head west at Millarville until we get to the 762 which comes up south of Bragg Creek. Don't worry, if Jen is along she won't let us not find the ice-cream

Brekkie: now that is a great idea! Maybe next time we will have to do that here. If you wanna see some nicer roads you are welcome to join us in the morning....and nobody will put you in a headlock! By my watch you have 11.5 hours to get down here  As for nice roads around Red-Deer, if they existed I would know about them as I grew up not far from there but it's pretty slim pickin's. The Pine Lake / Delburne area is likely the best bet with some nice rolling hills but other than that I am stumped. As for Edmonton: well.......
I'll try to remember the camera tomorro and get some pics.
Cheers,

It's amazing how nobody can make it when you post up a ride less than 24 hours before it starts.....
I only managed to get a few outta focus pictures in before the batteries went dead.

Very nice Bruce. Wish I could have made it out for this one, especially now that I have the bike running smoothly again.
Instead, I'm busing getting ready for a trip to Nogales first weekend of Sept. |

That sucks that you didn't make it Matt, but I did phone you and let it ring 6 times this morning (damned call display  ). I'll try to pull it together earlier next time.
Owen,
Sorry you couldn't make it either. By the way where the heck is Nogales? |

| Hey Kaiser, you still wanna do some Hat area or cypress hills riding? I'm available tomorrow and wednesday evenings (get home at 6) which I know isn't a helluva lotta time, but on thursday I'm riding in to calgary again. I will be back the week after that, but sometime on or after the 26th is moving day for me back to cow town. PM me if you have any free evenings and feel like heading out for a spin. Now that I have my new bike I'm itching to buzz around a bit. |

you can take more with you on a road trip, a small crate for my dog fits on the back seat, its more stable for a old girl like me, and there aren't many here in Canada so i like something different, and we go down south and there are lots down there and we have lots of fun
AS LONG AS YOU RIDE, It doesnt matter if its metric or standard haha |
