Are there many Australian riders on this forum?
I will be in Darwin next week, which I think is as close as I will ever get to the Alice. |

Alice is well worth a look around. For me I moved here to LIVE just after a few days ride around!
Darwin is perfect in the Dry season!
Make sure you go to Litchfield National Park!

Litchfield is magic, but we did not spend anywhere near enough time there. I lived up in Darwin for a few years (ex-Army) and I am heading back up there for a holiday to catch up with my parents.
The territory definitely has that effect on people. Once you get a taste, it is hard to let go. |

| I am currently in Sydney, but would pay good money to move elsewhere. Too many fools for my liking. |

So what sort of bike do you have?
Are you riding to Darwin, or flying. |

I have a somewhat bent '96 1200 Bandit.
I will be flying up with my family, that is if the doc on Wednesday does not tell me I need a bone graft for my leg.
This is it's current state:

It was a relatively simple highside. From the marks on my boot it looks like my toe dug in first and then the bike came down on my leg, which sent my foot south whilst I was northbound. The only grazing was on the toe and the inside of the boot.
I got some x-rays done today and needless to say I will need the bone graft:

I have no idea what the bike looks like as I haven't had a chance to see it yet. I have been told by mates at work that it isn't too bad, mostly cosmetic damage. The copper who attended the scene said he thought it was repairable too.
I still don't know how I managed to lose it. It probably didn't help getting off a Honda CT 110 that I had been riding for four hours prior, nor that there had been some rain during the day.
More than likely it was just cold tyres and too much throttle. |

Could be worse. I had the bone graft a few weeks ago so now it is just a waiting game. I have been told to stay off it for another month, so hopefully I will be walking again sometime in September.
Thanks for asking. :D |

| I have been invited to go on a ride with one of the coppers that investigated my accident. A police escort for a blast up the old Pacific Hwy is very enticing, so I can't promise anything.... |
