New 2007 Harley-Davidson XL 1200N Nightster Motorcycle

XL 1200N Nightster Model Overview
Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycles get a burst of adrenalin with the launch of the new XL 1200N Nightster. With a wicked combination of exceptional performance, unique design and a low chassis, the Nightster has a gritty, urban feel offering a sharp ride for the street. Blending a low seat height and mid-mount controls with the powerful torque of the rubber-mounted Evolution V-Twin engine, the XL 1200N Nightster adds another exciting option to the Sportster family.
The distinctive look and feel of the XL 1200N Nightster centers on a low seat height of 25.3 inches that makes it comparable to the XL Sportster 883 Low, an inch lower than the XL Sportster 1200 Low and among the lowest riding of all Harley-Davidson models. Taking the latest Sportster design for a ride into the past, the Nightster features a side-mounted license plate holder and front fork gaiters. The Nightster is offered in Vivid Black, as well as four two-tone paint schemes and a unique Harley-Davidson fuel tank graphic. The fuel cap, headlamp trim ring and oil dipstick cover are coated in a new Silver Satin finish.

That's classic. I like it. Reminds of a the classic Triumph Bonneville done in H-D style.

| I voted neutral. I'm not a fan of the Sportster Shape. I think it's sharp looking but, just not my "thing". |

Sorry. doesn't do a thing for me. The seating position does not look very comfy with the seat that low and the pegs that high either.
Now, show me that prototype Sportster that Harley has been showing in Europe and we will talk. Pegs in the right place, better suspension, better brakes. I like the styling a lot better, too.
That being said, Harley will probably sell a lot of the XL 1200N's. |

Eh, looks alright, I also am not the biggest fan of the Sportster, but if anything, they need to make the whole thing black, all black, like the NightRod!

when i first saw it i was pissed:
i bought a 2007 1200R back in november but this looked more like what i wanted.
but after i realized that it's missing the tach, dual front disc brake, seat height and ground clearance of the R but costs $1000 more?!?!
i'm happy i got the R. it's a more capable bike for $1000 less.
of course, this nightster LOOKS cooler, though... |

Nothing wrong with the R, I love the R's looks too and would own one myself if I could fit on a sportster (hint H-D, can you made one for those of us with long legs?). :D |

I like it. :D I also am wondering how comfortable it would be for me. :|
Then it was all ruined when I saw the write-up: "tank graphics packed with street cred". At that point I threw up. |

yeah, well, i don't exactly love or agree with all the stunter ads and 'street cred' that sportbikes and gear have,
but i have an Icon jacket and other sportbike gear.
it's not about the ads from the company, it's about the actual product for me.
HD has always tried to bank on the 'badass street cred' to sell their bikes and merch.
but as long as i like the product, i don't give a rat's tail about what they're saying. |

Friend of mine is getting one apparently. I'll either have him report or I'll report for him!

| Classic Look, But if it has the same lean angle as the 2007 883 low that I have recently roadtested, then all that power could be dangerous as you fly into your first corner, or if you attempt to follow your mates through the twisties. Even if you never intend to go hard, EXTRA LEAN ANGLE is an EXTRA SAFETY MARGIN, that might just save you when you NEED to take evasive action, or when you get caught out on one of those unfamiliar bends that tightens up on you. If you can't lean anymore then you may end up on the wrong side of the road and head on into an oncoming vehicle, or off the black stuff, and into who knows what! I currently own a 2006 carburettored 883, and although the new injected 883 is noticabley more responsive, I think my next new bike will be a 1200 Roadster, Power, with just enough handling , Aussie Bob. |

| I like it except for the 3.3 gal tank. That is a deal breaker for me. I need more range. |

I vote neutral..
I'm also not a big fan of the Sportster. I really don't care for the grey powder coating, although I do like the blacked out motor.... |

| Definately a cool looking bike. I just sold a 2006 883 and it was fairly quick after some performance changes. I would have to say that with a stage one upgrade this bike would be a monster...You 88 cu in. guys that call Sportsters (girls bikes) better watch out for this one....Remember, you can't call it a girls bike if you can't out run it...... :P |
