I'm from (more or less) Lansing Michigan, and down for day rides, events, shows, whatever.

If you're looking for someone to put some miles on with, I'd be happy to ride. :D Always looking for new interesting places to see, and always happy to learn something from another rider.

Maybe once we get enough MI's here, we can have our own little TMW meet.

I'm in Oakland county. Ocassionally I search for events within the area online. There ae a few coming up, but many of them are rides which either start and end at the same location or ride to another location not to far away from the starting point. I stopped doing the rides but will attend if it's for a good cause and if there are many vendors. I've yet ot hit a poker run and hear they are fun. I'm keeping an eye out for those. If you ever come to this side of town and want a riding partner, let me know. I know there are more Michiganders on the board. They just aren't speaking up.

For those interested in the NHL, or just interested in a long ride or a getaway for a few days, I plan on travelling to the Traverse City area for the training of the Red Wings, which starts Sept. 11th, if my plans fall into play, that is. I will most likely camp out at the state park near Interlochen depending on weather or unless i find some outstanding rates for motels. Anyway, no plans are definite yet but anyone willing to go is more than welcome. I'm in Oakland county to provide an idea of where my routing will start.

I'll be in Michigan sometime in either mid-August or in September. When I finally decide on when, I'll let y'all know, and maybe we can get in a ride then.

Cheers,
Loonette

p.s. Meanie - where in Oakland County are you? I lived for a while in Rochester (that's where Scan and I lived when we met). I'm just curious.

Royal Oak.

That'd be great. How long you staying? Let me know when you get into town.

I'll be in Metro Detroit/Holly area this Saturday till Tuesday. Long weekend away from home. Visiting a few friends, but I have left a lot of time open for riding.

Well, no takers on this yet, but if you see this post and it is during this weekend you can send Loonette a PM and she can call me out in the world on my cell phone. And if you see a green ZRX with a green helmet stop and say hi.

Well, I would take you up on the offer but as of this morning (Sunday) it is thundering and lightning and the rain is expected to last all day as well as into Tuesday.

It actually rained a little on Sunday morning (ok, it rained a lot, but not for a long time). I rode most of Sunday from 2pm to 10pm - no rain all day. Monday I rode from 2pm until about 7pm - no rain. Tuesday I rode home after 3pm. Rode through some rain coming through Ohio, and it rained a lot around lunch time. It was great to get out on my bike so much. I'll let it be known again next time I come up.

Ah, Royal Oak - home of the Detroit Zoo, the Metro Times, and (if it's still there) Incognito. I used to love shopping at Incognito when I was a teenager. Always wanted to live in Royal Oak because it's one of the more funky towns in the area.

I'm still trying to work something out for September. Maybe Labor Day weekend or perhaps the weekend of the 17th. I'll let you know when I get my marbles together enough to actually say "when". I liked the idea of Labor Day because I might like to go to the Hamtramck Festival (just for nostalgia's sake - well, and a couple of jello shots perhaps). Again, I'll let you know.

Cheers,
Loonette

Incognito is still there as well as many other new businesses surrounding it and more being added north and south on Main.

Currently, if plans stay on track, I'll be in NC during the Labor day weekend holiday and still tentatively planning the Traverse City area trip the weekend of Sept. 10th, depending on weather. Other than the NC trip, any time you come up and need a riding buddy for the day, let me know. Ocassionally a few other friends and I, will ride together also. Therefore, maybe we can make a day of something somewhere. Just let me know anytime.

Perhaps we could gather some Michigan/Ohio riders and plan small trips, get togethers, rallies, etc on ocassion. Anyone from these areas want to chime in to participate or with input/suggestions, please do.

Well, I was supposed to participate in jury duty at the end of this coming week, but it has been postponed until November. Since I have already arranged for someone to sub for me at work that Friday night, I've decided to do my Michigan trip instead. I'll be arriving in the Detroit area on Friday the 26th, probably mid afternoon. I might stay Friday night at a friend's boyfriend's place at Telegraph and 7 Mile. Said friend works a 1/2 day on Saturday, so I would be available to ride early on Saturday the 27th. Other times could be arranged as well, depending on the weather and your schedule.

Other areas in which I'll be boppin' about are Holly, Fenton, Brighton/Hell, and spots in between there and Detroit. I have no solid plans as of yet, so I'm open to ideas. Let me know what you think.

Cheers,
Loonette

As of today, the forcast for Saturday is rain, but things usually change as the day approaches. I have a docs appt Friday at 2pm and the rest of the day is free as is Saturday, unless the rain does appear and Sunday.

There are 3 bike events in Michigan that I know of but all are over 100 miles from the Detroit area with the exception of the March of Dimes run on Sunday which starts in Ann Arbor. Otherwise, I don't know what your idea of riding will be or what roads you'd like to travel. Sometimes I will cruise the St. Clair coastline which leads to Port Huron then along the Lake Huron coastline. Otherwise, you have to ride outside the subs to get into the rural roads.

Did you pick Holly, Fenton, Brighton, Hell out of a hat? Either way, sounds good to me. I'm not one to worry where the road takes me as long as it's a great day. Um, that is, if you were implying on having company to those areas. If not, no big deal.

Arrrrrrrgh!! Well, I'll still be coming up, but it will be in the cage instead of on my bike. Today Scan and I decided to celebrate the kids' first day of school with a luncheon ride, and after about 15 minutes into the ride, he noticed that my bike was spewing out lots of white smoke and he could smell antifreeze. I have been using too much antifreeze and (IMO) too much oil, but hadn't noticed any smoke upon start up or in my mirrors. I had to get the bike towed into the dealership, and we're suspecting a leaky head gasket. Depending on the actual problem, it could take 2 to 4 weeks to get my baby back. I'm so sad. I am glad though that it didn't become an issue after I had already started my trip.

I thought about bringing Scan's bike up, but I haven't had any ride time on it, and I really would need lots of practice on his bike (ZRX 1200) - I can't even totally flat foot it. I might make another mini trip up after the bike is repaired - maybe in early October. I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,
Loonette

No problem. I hope the damage isn't too serious. Take care.

BTW...FYI...October 9th is chili cookoff in Plymouth which draws a buttload of bikes. They have a bike show for various categories. Something to keep in mind. Take care.
