I'm in Gatineau (also never heard of Ayton). Great weather this weekend. My wife and I finished the parking lot component of our safety course. I ended up with a little bit of a sunburn! |

For those of you who "aren't sure" where Ayton is travel west of the center of the universe...A.K.A. Toronto.....on the 401.....to Guelph...turn North on Hiway 6....travel about 45 minutes to an hour to Mount Forest.....then go 10 kms. to Grey Road 9 on the west (left turn) then 12 kms. and you are in AYTON. Hope you get up this way...I co-own a little restaurant called 'The Old Stove' and am hoping some fellow riders drop by ....I am willing to give free tours of the area if you catch me when it isn't busy....and you get my partner's..(Marg).. permission....LOL

Just got my M1 and got some questions,
how does motorcycle insurance work in ontario, do you have to keep your bike insured the whole year, or can you insure it for 7 months thats you use the bike.
And also would like some suggestions on a bike for next season when i have my M2, Im 6,1, 250 pounds.
I was thinkin a CBR600 RR. |

hey daku,
you can insure your bike for 6 months or a year as far as I know...I always insure for the full year not just incase we get a good spell of weatherbut I also carry fire and theft. For me at least there isn't that much of a difference in price.
A 650 is a good size to start with .... as you get more experience you may want to move up to a bigger bike ....myself I like bikes between a 750 and 1000....you have to decide that for yourself when the time comes
hope this helps

Hey everyone,
Is there anyone out there who wants to go for a ride sometime (in the Ottawa area). I have my class 6r(?) now but it requires that I ride with someone who has had their full license (M-Ontario or 6-Quebec) for 2 years. I lose my license if I'm caught riding without someone! My bike is sitting in the garage begging for me to ride it!
Cheers,

I also go to Smiths Falls frequently, that's kind of a halfway point to Ottawa, maybe we could meet there for a coffee some day? |

Sounds good but I have a slight problem with the graduated system in Quebec. I need someone to accompany me while I am riding (a silly rule if you ask me). This makes it a difficult to ride to Smith Falls although I am to the point where I am willing to take the risk.
Let me know a good time and day for you.
Cheers,

That's why I went to Ontario to get my learner's permit while I was stationed in Montreal back in '81.
Well, I'd hate for you to get in trouble just to go for a ride... btw, is the Quebec permit valid in Ontario? Might want to check on that just to be sure before crossing the border. Anyways, turns out I'll be unavailable for a ride for the next two weeks due to work commitments and an upcoming vacation (finally!). But we will be in Ottawa visiting friends in early July; I'll let you know when details are finalised and maybe we could all make a run into Hull to meet you there for a ride? PM me and I'll give you my email address if you're interested. |

Hi all...I've been away for a while and just noticed I put the wrong date for the show and shine.
It should be Saturday, July 23rd.
I hope to get up to the Pembroke area this summer and could go through Ottawa and up to Smith Falls if it happens then I'll try to get in touch with those here.
