Hope this isn't a dumb question, but what are the laws in PA relative to driving a motorcyle? I believe I read properly that I can get a permit for a period of one year (only ride sunrise to sunset) while I go for the license since I am a licensed driver automobile driver. Is this right?
Any help/direction would be appreciated. |

this is true. you just cant have a passenger or ride at night.
you can renew it every year though as many times as you want. |

| I can just apply for the permit, and then I'm okay to ride during the day with no passengers? I downloaded the application and it looks like I need to get a physical? Does that sound right? How hard is it to get your license? I do play on take the MSF course. Just not sure when. |

| Just go to motor vehicles and ask for a motorcycle permit. I believe it is $ 7.00. You must have a check or money order. That's it. :D |

yep its that easy...i actually went to an auto broker place...it cost an extra 3 dollars but it was worth it not to have to stand around at the dmv. |

| I just got my permit last week and it only cost $10 at the license center in lancaster. Taking the safety course in ephrata at the end of the month and then will be fully licensed for free. Cant beat that. Well, unless they give me a free new chopper, that would be swell. |

| Starting this past January, 2006, to get a learner's permit in PA you must first complete a 10-question test based on the PA Motorcycle booklet (available for free at any Drivers License center) and pass an eye exam. You then pay $10 for your learner's permit which is good for 1 year. If you take Motorcycle Safety Course and pass you get a temporary PA Motorcycle license on the spot. Otherwise you have to come back to the licensing center and take a driver's test. |
