Hi xjrjohn. Nice bike the 1200, especially in black. The XJRs are becoming a bit of a cult bike now. I get a kick every time I ride mine.

The Bulldog will be hell of a place to hold a stag. I've got a couple of mates that go every year and quite a few from the XJROC meet up there so it's about time I did it.

I usually ride over to Belgium and stay with some mates for the last couple of weeks in August. They come over here in September for the Ace Cafe weekend and Brighton Burn-up. I might change my plans this year and go to the Bulldog instead. If I do make it I'll try to catch up with you and like you say have a few beers.

There should be a few of us making sure that Keyoke has a weekend he can't remember... I think I should take the Trike down so we can strap him to it on the way back should he, you know, be too ill to ride... :twisted:

Funny you should mention it. I have a load of gaffa tape in bright RAC orange and Landrover Green in the garage... I should think I can save it til August...

Possibly a good idea over the weekend but not needed on the Trike. We'll just orientate him so technicolour yawns are done off of the back of the trike (If it gets the mudguards this isnt a bad thing - I neeed and excuse to change them!)

Have you seen the pictures from outside Kismet before he went to new Zealand?

I went to the buldog lots of times before I moved to canada,
one time I got up out of my tent, I was totaly hammered and decided to go and get something to eat, I ate, four chilli burgers, and went back to my tent,
My new girl friend was in the tent with me and I fell asleep, I awoke, deserpately needing a shite, I couldnt move, because I had the feeling I was going to SHART! (shitmy self while farting) any how I managed to get my Arseout of the tent flap, and projectiled Diereha,

it just so happened it squirted a good few feet, and decorated, my friends Kawasaki, he's brother just so happened was looking out of his tent, and was overwhelmed by my acheivement, some of my friends who missed the event asked for a replay, but I couldnt ablige, as for the friend whos bike it was, he was physicly sick when he saw the organic decals.
Oh them good old days. huh.

That reminds me of an eventful holiday I had back in that really hot summer of 1976 when I went down to Woolacombe in Devon with my mate Kenny and a couple of girls. We'd booked a fortnight in a caravan belonging to one of the girl's parents. On the first night we got completely arseholed and during the night I woke up dying for a shite so I staggered out of the caravan in a drunken stupor to relieve myself in the toilet tent. In the morning we discovered there was no toilet tent. I'd managed to find my way into the awning of the caravan next door and had a shite in a plastic box full of shoes. The owners were not happy but couldn't prove who did it.

The holiday was cut short the following weekend when Kenny injured his knob in a freak accident. We were walking along a nearby beach one evening when we decided to give the girls a good seeing to in the sand dunes. I'd just started to get into the rhythm when we heard terrible screams and Kenny came running out with blood pouring down his white Oxford bags. His love truncheon had slipped out of the golden gully and when he tried to push it back in again he missed. His todger had slid down under her arse and he'd ripped his bell end open on a sharp bit of sea shell poking up out of the sand.

I've never seen so much blood and by the time we managed to get him to hospital he'd almost passed out. I thought he was going to die and all I could think about was what I was going to tell his mum. I still see him and we laugh about it now but it wasn't so funny at the time. Happy days.

I find myself, somehow, on the Pacific North West of the USA, north of Seattle and 100 mile short of real bacon (Canada).

Been here since 4.06 and it's okay.

Last year I rode across the US and then down to Death Valley, so 20k miles or there about, but I managed to confine Interstates to only 22 miles total.
I also only stopped at one off places (no mctuckeyfriedsubhutburger joints).

This lead me start a website www.unchainedworld.com where I'm collecting recommendations for one off places and services for bike travellers, from around the world. While it's under construction, you can still post to recommendations@unchainedworld.com

The end result should enable you to enter a route and see which unchaineds are along the way, downlaod a gps route or a map.

There have been some strange entries so far, a cafe specialising in spam, a 72oz steak place in Texas (free if eaten in 1 hr) the 2nd best chippie in Britain, a cheese restaurant in Belgium and 3 ethiopian cafes, oh yes and a tibetan tea house and sanctuary (in Scotland).

I hope you'll be able to come up with some unchaineds of your own.

We did the national bike museum a couple of weeks back and then a run down the fosseway back to Bristol.

It was weird seeing all those bikes all perfect, shiny and silent. Not at all the way I remembered them back when we could buy and sell them for a few quid and were always hacking them about and falling off them.

Do you know of any bike events down this way? There is the Shepton Mallet show in Feb but that's all I know about.

That's brilliant. I've already discovered that Weston super mare is very bike friendly, and there was a good turnout on the seafront just yesterday. There is a bike only car park, and there were lots of riders there.

With this sudden mild weather I'm riding again!
