Re: This Week: 2017 BMW VISION NEXT 100 - VOTE NOW

Agree. I don't see the point in voting for concept bikes. It's the same as voting for fictional bikes in sci fi movies; they don't exist, they don't need to be able to work. Someone can come up with a concept bike that's powered by the carbon dioxide I exhale or my own body heat. I can say yay, cool...

Re: Discuss: Your pet peeves while riding?

To be honest, people in cars don't tick me off because my expectations are low anyway. I get ticked off more by other motorcyclists, because you kinda assume they'd know better, we're going through similar amounts of risk, we're in this together, etc. I especially get annoyed when riding in a group ...

Hmmm, I've put stickers on my panniers and topbox, but I'm iffy about adding nonfunctional stuff on the bike itself.

Re: This Week: 2017 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra - VOTE NOW

IMHO, there's just something so uncool about this trike. There's a somewhat sad air of "I wish I could ride a two wheeler, but I can't". Strangely enough, I don't feel that way about hacks. Gummiente has already noted how they're superior to trikes (and to regular motorcycles, in some ways). Frankly...

Re: This Week: 2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT - VOTE NOW

Despite the size of the gas tank and cruise control, this is not a great choice for long distance endurance riding. Ergonomics are far from optimal, wind protection looks to be a major issue, and the idea that faster is better with respect to endurance riding is utter nonsense. This is a largely na...

A 173 horsepower sorta standard, sorta sport tourer, with luggage, heated grips, cruise control, reasonable wind protection, reasonable pillion room, and a 6 gallon fuel tank with 250+ miles of range? How can this not be awesome?

Re: Discussion: Evolution or Extinction? End of the Cruiser and Sportbike

A lot of riders will always desire motorcycles that don't necessarily have the best performance, but are good-looking, have lots of character, and can be customized to make the bike feel truly yours. This role used to mainly be played by cruisers, but what's considered "fashionable" or "good-looking...

Re: This Week: 2017 Triumph Bonneville Bobber - VOTE NOW

So cool, it's zero degrees Kelvin. So many awesome details. I love the seat that adjusts vertically and horizontally, the Triumph badge on the seat, the hidden shock, the fork gaiters, the red rubber spark plug boots, the rear brakelight design. Gaaah, just awesome. I've seen a few video reviews on ...

Your forum name is pretty cool. Is there a story behind it?

(Just to be fair, my first bike was grey and had one cylinder. Pretty boring).

Looks like we both are getting older and jaded Thumper.
Plus my spine, wrists, and arse aren't exactly built for these things anymore.

Re: This Week: 2017 BMW S1000RR - VOTE NOW

I'm voting cool, but only because voting uncool would be a bit harsh. Nothing wrong with the bike itself, but it's been around since 2009 (with tweaks over the years). And overall, this has gotten to be a pretty uninteresting category in recent years. Maybe all the bikes really do seem the same, may...

Re: This Week: 2017 Vespa 946 Red - VOTE NOW

Great brand, great cause. I'm less keen on the bike itself though. It's too overstyled for my taste, and more importantly, gives up some scooter-practicality to accomodate that style. Especially toward the rear of the bike, that design both completely negates underseat storage, and also minimizes th...

Paint, a different wheel, and a different handlebar; is this the least a manufacturer has done to justify having a separate model name? I've always liked the Vulcan 900 though, so I can't give it an uncool vote.

Re: This Week: 2017 BMW K1600B - VOTE NOW

Problem is, though, that it's not the bike BMW should be building with that engine. We already have the touring 6. Where's the roadster 6? The K1600R or K1600RS if you will. Instead of building a sorta-cruiser 6 that will in all likelihood go the way of the R1200C, why not keep the same frame and e...

Re: This Week: 2017 BMW K1600B - VOTE NOW

Uncool. I can't figure out who would buy this. If you think the engine's awesome, I think it's best utilized in either the K1600 GT or GTL (depends on where along the sport-touring spectrum you prefer). If you want a bagger, there are way better looking ones out there. It's okay to compromise functi...

So basically, Polaris used Victory as a training ground. Develop engineering, manufacturing, and marketing expertise by coming up with a motorcycle brand from scratch. Then apply all that knowledge once they bought a brand that has heritage behind its name and is better placed to compete with H-D be...

Beyond awesome. I'd even consider this bike SubZero. Sometimes you want a beautiful Italian sportbike, but don't want to live with painful ergonomics or ridiculous power and torque curves, or you want to ride it everyday, or ride it the whole day. If that's what you're looking for, the SuperSport is...

Re: This Week: 2017 Honda Rebel 500 ABS - VOTE NOW

I loved the original Rebel. It's great that Honda finally updated it, but that chassis looks really weird. It's like the bars are as high as mini apes, relative to the seat height. The shape and angle of the tank are all wonky as a result. Bizarre.
