backfire fireball out exhaust

Ok, I just rebuilt the carbs on my '78 CB400T and one side seems as though it runs well and the other side doesn't seem to fire at idle and at 25% throttle and up the side that didn't seem to fire, starts popping and I get an occasional fireball out the pipe. I checked the coil and the rectifier bot...

Need help selecting tires.

I need to put new tires on my bike and I don't even know where to begin. I look in my Dennis Kirk Catalog and I can't find hardly anything in the same size as what is on it. The front is 3.60s19 and the rear is 4.10s18. Any and all help is appreciated.

CB 400T carbs same as CB400F

I was told I ordered the correct rebuild kit for my cb400t and that is was the same as the cb400f. Now I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I didn't think that sounded right, but I was assured that was correct. So they come in the mail today and low and behold thet're wrong. Am I correct in...

Just did the POR-15 thing myself, and they get my vote. It was a little costly ($40 shipped) but it seems to work fine. It is easy to do, but like stated earlier, it is also time consuming.

Float level setting.

Ok, now that I know how to set the float level, can someone tell me how high to set it on my '78 CB400T. I couldn't find a manual locally and I haven't had a chance to check ebay. Thanks

Wow! Glad to see a lot of people willing to share their knowledge. As for the possibility of the exhaust being clogged, it's not. Probably because it is in the dumpster becuase of how rotted it was. The guy I bought the bike from showed me the condition of the stuff and I just threw it away. He had ...

Excellent post. Any suggestions on how to get fuel to the engine safely with the fuel tank out? The whole deal sounds kind of dangerous. I used a 20 ounce pop bottle with a nipple that comes on bottles of gear lube (threads match). Filled it about 1/3 of the way, stuck the nipple into the hose goin...

I find my mechanical skills to be on par, is that perhaps not enough to tackle rebuilding a carb? How much would a professional charge?

Also, I am going to be running a Mac's 2 into 1 exhaust because the stock exhaust is shot, so what do I do about jetting?

Why am I getting a headache already?

The next problem.. carbs.

After I got the rectifier deal straightend out, it seems like one side doesn't give off as much exhaust. I am kinda thinking maybe one side is getting more gas because I know the carbs need to be cleaned because they run gas out the overflow tubes. Can somebody point me in the direction of where to ...
