There are a bunch of people near me who commute on gsx-r 750s... I've seen three in the parking lot of the industrial park where I work. I see quite a few on the freeway as well. Just ride what you own. As far as theft goes... I won't say it isn't a problem in this area. I've got the fancy scorpio a...

Ummm.... the problem with your "I'll just be looking at whale excrement anyway" thesis is that, without at least some chemical analysis, it can be very difficult to tell symbiotic from parasitic. Mistakes have been made in the past.

Zagnut, great ramble... much appreciated. :D Pretty much hit the nail on the head -- south to Addison, a bunch of traffic, roads that are all torn up/still being built, and nuttiest of all no filtering/lane splitting (or severely constrained splitting) ... which pretty much rules out motorcycle comm...

DZ, what part of Dallas are you headed to? Have you decided where you'll live or what the commute will be? We've got family and friends in Dallas and Ft Worth, so its a little familiar. I've been looking at places around Little Elm, The Colony, and so forth... my employer is in one of those cities ...

I suspect I can get more for the bike in CA just because the CA-specific smog junk (carbon filter on the fuel tank vent, which all told reduces the fuel capacity by 0.2 gallons) will probably be a negative in TX and normal in CA. The company isn't paying for the move as such. They wrote me a bonus c...

I kinda figured that flat-as-a-pancake Dallas would be short on good MC roads. I mostly ride the 250 on the interstate, and CA interstates average higher speeds than the Dallas-area interstates I've been on...out of breath at 85 isn't so true but the brakes seem scary weak if you are doing 95 and ha...

Question... Switching States

OK, so here I am... haven't posted much in a while but now I've got a question. My beneficent employer has requested, under pain of pay-raise and bonus, that I relocate to Texas. To the northern Dallas metro area to be specific... the lead-up to that is part of why I haven't been participating as mu...

I have nearly 14,000 miles on a pair of Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants. Not bad to remove when I get to the office, nor to put back on before going home, but sometimes a bit much to put on for a quick ride to lunch. I don't think I'd bother with the knee pads but it would look sweet I'll grant you. Of c...

Do you really spend a lot of time on the 5 with that bike? Last time I was there traffic was flowing at 90+ most of the time. What's that like on a ninja250? Umm... when -Holiday was out here we rode a little bit of the 5, him on his 1200 and me on my 250... we were pretty much the fastest things m...

Yes, I still feel the love... despite needing to shell out untolled bajillions of dollars for a new rear tire that won't wear out after 10,000 miles. Well, after 9,000 miles....

Beats a car any day.
