Hello, everyone--
My first day of commuting is over, and the results are in. My new Honda CTX-700 D is a smash hit! The bike's automatic transmission is just amazing...the only problem is "rider interface": several times I found myself reaching for a clutch lever that isn't there. Otherwise, I have nothing but praise for this amazing technology--I won't miss the manual shifter one bit. The bike has plenty of power; the throttle is very responsive; and the handling is very nimble.
Three people complimented my new bike from their vehicles on the way home this evening. All loved the bike. One, a school bus driver, thought it was a 1300 or 1800 cc bike; the second (driving a really nice 420 HP Dodge Challenger) also complimented the bike, and the third, a Mexican guy, simply gestured at the bike and said, "esta muy bonita!" Can't ask for better than that.
Can't wait to have time to install the windshield, though. I am no longer a fan of wind-in-the-chest. Otherwise, a most excellent "shakedown cruise".
Again, here is a picture of the bike.

Glad you're enjoying your bike. My wife sat on one of these at the motorcycle show in New York City last Friday, and was intrigued by it. However, she didn't care for the forward position of the foot pegs.

Forward position is exactly why I like it. I tried one on for size and loved it.jstark47 wrote:Glad you're enjoying your bike.
