Hello from Toronto

#1 Unread post by faded sun »

Greetings from Toronto, where we might not know everything but we think we do....

suffering through another winter - worse than usual - waiting for the spring sun to shine and planning long rides ahead.

Jock, welcome to TMW!

How's that old Honda treating you? My '84 Magna 1100 spent more time laid up than winding out, but it sure was fun to get a handful of.

And I hear ya about waiting out the winter, I spend my days just sighing to myself and scrolling through Google Maps for new destinations for next season.

Thanks for the reply.

I love my ride. I stay on the road until the snow flies and get back on when it's gone. Last year the roads were clear until Christmas and I was riding every chance I got.

Got her 5 years ago with 6500km on the clock after 25 years! Somebody broke it in and gave it to me. The wheel rims still looked like they just came out of the box. It has been a joyful relationship over the years. Needed a new set of tanks due to rust but no worries after that.

Now looking to move up to an ST 1100 for longer rides, maybe go all the way across to LA to visit my son with the wife up behind. Sure will hate to part with her though. Trying to sell her to a friend so I can eventually get her back and make a show piece out of her....

I got close last weekend as I was working in Erin - I do roofing emergency repairs and have been doing 25 calls a week since the storm - but it was too late by the time I got my last one done. It was DARK, man, not a lot of street lights out there and no ambient city glow to help you see.

The wife's family is in Acton so I'm sure I'll make it by. Are you there on the weekend?

Sure are far from home and missing home too... but not missing that crazy winter y'all are having up there this year! We also missed the Calgary floods last spring (which is where we are supposed to be living right now but are on a work assignment down here for the moment).

Did I mention I miss Canada?

But yes Mike and I do A LOT more riding down here. Unfortunately there is NOTHING good to ride to around the city, apparently the nice stuff is at least 4 hours away... So lots of commuting and running around but no rides through the gorgeous Rockies or out into the Alberta prairies...

Did I mention I miss Canada?
