Harley sales down

#1 Unread post by MotoF150 »

Went to a Harley Dealer today to beg for a good trade in price on my Suzuki, no didn't get it, but the salesbabe told me sales are down on new Harleys and they are expecting big price cuts in the next few weeks and she suggested to sell my Suzuki myself and maybe I can find someone stupid enough to give me the price I want for it, but I kinda feel bad ripping off somebody by unloading that POS Suzuki, I mean how could I sleep at night knowing that bike has problems and its somebody elses problem? The Harleys are not a performance bike but they have a high load carrying capaispty, I mean you guys ever notice the big women that are riding on the back? Why is a Harley the same as a Hoover Vacuum Cleaner? I mean whats simular about it?

Harley will sell every BIKE THEY MAKE in the model year they made it. There are far more buyers then bikes.and always will be becasue its a "club" you buy into.more then just a motorcycle. Like a Bentley or Corvette. Only HD is not giving you a whole lot for the money past the right to proudly wear the Orange and Black.as the MEtrics look every bit as nice and some better as they modernize design and engine technology where HD cannot.

You dont see rebates on HDs. Last years models or even 2004 "NEW" models on the floors like metrics. You do see tons of VTX1800's lined up vs the walls and being blown out for $9000 in every Honda dealer though. at "special interest rates" .....

Don't get me wrong. I have no interest in Harleys. Been there done that.
But they have an ongoing "allure" to many who will not be satisfied until they finally own one. I had my day back in the 80's.

NOw Im looking at the M50 C50t, Honda VTX1300 /1100 and the Kawi line up for a bike.

Mr King Frog,,, ur looking at the Suzuki M and C 50's? and the Honda VTX1300??? you won't like either bike, do me a favor when you test drive the Honda VTX1300, next take a test ride on the VTX1800 and you will see a BIG difference, every Honda Dealer will lie and tell you the 1300 is just as fast as the 1800, and every guy that owns a 1300 lies and says the same thing, but if you would ride both bikes you will know the truth. The 1800 is sooooo fast its scarry, the 1300 runs like an old ladys Buick.

What you don't understand is I don't care about SPEED. Anything over 80 is moot. I will tell you ALL the HOnda dealers I have been to have a floor full of 1800's on HEAVY discount. Bigger is not better in the cruiser world, You are obviously a sportbike fan who is very dissaponted in the M50 becasue its only a cruiser.

There are those who want a 2000CC crusier just because. IM not one of them. I stopped looking past 1100 really. The VTX 1300 is agood buy but I still prefer the Sabre 1100 in the HOnda line and its the same price aS A DISCOUNTED VTX.

The Honda 1100 was plenty enouigh for me. The VTX may be too much. The KAwi 900 may be just right as well as the C50.

C50 worth every penny

#5 Unread post by Podman »

I ride a 2006 C50, its my 5th bike (HD, Yamaha x2 & Honda) from 650 to 1300 and this bike is by far the best bike that I have riden.
It's quick for an 800cc and rides solid two up, and gets me up the mountains without any work on my part.

If you bag the M50 then try the M109R and it will either make you a man or you'll stay a boy

Damn MotoF150, are you ever just going to drop the whole harley thing? We all know you hate them, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with an 1100 or a 1300. They are both fast bikes, and definitely not like an old lady's buick. My bike is only 450cc, and it would kick a buick's "O Ring". My step-dad has an '82 Maxim 1100, and that thing is fast.

I just can't understand why anybody would spend between $14K and $17K for a Harley and please don't tell me "resale value" reasale value means nothing unless you either find someone to buy a used Harley or trade it in on a new Harley. I have a bug up my "O Ring" for Harleys
