Triumph Sprint 1050cc w/ABS

#1 Unread post by tex1230 »

So I'm looking at a new bike and I have used the search function but way too many matches so I thought I'd ask this way...

Went to my Triumph dealer on friday, and he has a few Sprints on hand and I'm pretty much sold on the bike, but I am not sure whether the $1000 additional for the ABS is worth it.

Anyone have comments to the reliability of triumph's ABS system and any Sprint riders care to comment on if they've ever noticed the difference?

Thanks

I have a similar size/weight bike with the ABS. While I'm happy to say I haven't had to test it in a real life situation, I'm glad I have it. You'll have to answer for yourself if it's worth an extra $1K.

My dealership has a bunch of the Sprints on the main floor, and I seriously considered buying one instead of the BMW. I don't think you can go wrong.

It is a hard call.. the accident it *might* prevent could be well worth the $1000 dollars. But if you are very confident in your braking skills, I don't think it should be a terribly large issue.

Those are nice bikes btw...

I'm not arguing against the ABS system - I'll probably buy it...but I was more wondering whether anyone had experienced any problems with ABS on motorcycles in general.

Might want to check out the forums at TriumphRAT.net to get some Triumph ABS-specific experience.

Not related to ABS, but you might want to note that the riding position on the 07 Sprints is supposed to be a tad less agressive than on the 06's. They've raised the bars and moved them back a bit. Depending on what you like you might want to wait for an 07 or take a leftover 06.
