I could use some help/opinions folks. A friend of mine is looking at this bike and wondered if the "engine noise" he heard is normal or something to be concerned about. He described it as "loose" or "rattley".
The bike is a 1984 Kawasaki 440 LTD with 25,000-26,000 miles on it being offered for sale for $600. He's paying to have it inspected at a certified inspection site later this week.
We'd appreciate any input that you folks have on this machine or this "sound".
Thanks!!

find out what part of the engine is making the noise. if its the top end it just needs a valve adjustment which is no big deal. if its coming from the bottom end it could be rod knock (skip the bike if it has rod knock).
if its in good shape those 440 LTDs are nice little bikes, its the bike that spawned the vulcan 500

One of the best sources of info on the KZ400/440 series is Odd Ivar's site at http://www.kz400.com/ .
