ANYONE RIDDEN A KAWI "ZX14"? ( Opinion's?)

#1 Unread post by stratguy »

Greetings-

I just rode my first "ZX14" today.
I have ridden a ZX-11 built by Muzzy and Kawa-USA for years.
It's somewhat unique. (LOTZ of HP -- TI PARTS, etc)
The "14" got my attention. Does it REALLY handle like a
"Sport-Tour'er" when asked, or am I running out of my
"Medication?"javascript:emoticon('')
Does anyone have expierence on one?
What'z your take on this bike?
Thanks -

(ps- The "Medication-Thing" is ah' JOKE SON - I SAY AH' JOKE!)

It's wide. Really wiiiiide.

I'm a bit scared of it, but heard great raves from my cousin who just bought one. He's buying it for touring and occasional drag at drag strips.

Bachstras37-

Thanx for the reply. My job takes me places that barely has electricity, much-less web access.
I rode a BMW K1200S home this evening. I may take it as partial payment for work on a Recording session.
It surprized me! Feels smaller and more flick-friendly than the ZX14 to me. Havin' ah' blast on it!
What do you ride? (VN1500P?)
Thanks again for your feedback. I hope to ride another ZX14 Saturday. (Kind'a frighten'in, heh?)

I ride a 2003 Kawasaki Mean Streak. Basically, it's a sportier version of their famous Vulcan cruiser. A bunch of us here on this board ride one.

Here's a pic of what they look like:

I've been eyeing some sportbikes as of late. The new ZX14 caught my eye and it was a coincidence that my cousin got one. I test drove one just a few days ago once I had the nerves. It was fast, but not nimble. More nimble than my cruiser of course, but not nearly as nimble as the a pure sport bike. In fact, it felt more like a touring bike than a sport bike.

Bachstrad37-

I had an EPIC experience 2 days ago. I took my Goldwing down to Santa Barbara, and traded it for a day to a friend of mine who owns the new
BMW k1200s. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW !!!!!!!!
THEN, we went to the Kawasaki dealer who is a good buddy of mine, and we took the ZX!4, and the K1200s out for a hands-on comparison.
granted, I am not a Pro-rider, or Magazine reporter.
We did a 65-mph roll-on in 5th and 6th gears, side by side.
Now I was certain that the ZX would bolt and be gone
WRONG - the K1200s left it behind, in both roll-ons.
It was TOTALLY unexpected, and I have to say that the Beemer lives in
the power-band that I use, (like a BAT OUTTA" He--!) Blew us all away.
I am sure the ZX is geared and tuned way differently, but, I don't travel in high revs and 180-mph plus much.
The K1200s is hi-tech (which I was leery of) and is totally new to my
life experience on Bikes. (Servos for brakes, etc)
Do yourself a favor and ride the BMW.
It's my next bike!!!!!!
