Who said BMW could not produce a bike to compete with the Japs. They have gone one better. This bike may not have the fastest top end of all bikes but is more than fast enough for the average experianced rider. 176 bhp, 290kms. A four cylinder in line tipped forwrd at 55 degrees. The centre of gravity is fantastic. This bike really turns. It has a long wheel base almost 2m but the low CofG makesit really easy to manouvre. The aceleration is awsome and is claimed to do 100kms in 2.8 sec, never tried, but can believe. Two things that set it apart from other sports bikes. The ergo's are such that you can tour on this bike for hours and hours and still not feel sore, and the position and set up for the pillion means they can do the same. It also comes with ingeneous panniers that are more than ample for your needs. No longer can we call BMW old man's bikes. Would post pics, but I am too stupid to know how to do it.

They are great machines but in my opinion not worth the extra 10 grand.

Interesting point Mint, how much would you pay for a K1200S in your part of the world. You could have a point. In Sa Rands we would pay just under 140 000 for the K, but we can get a 1050ST triumph for 94 500. However there is no service or support for triumph but loads for BMW including an on call feature that will get us out of the sheet where ever we may be.

$27,000 plus ORC.

A new Honda ST 1300 is about $24,000 so really buying new there is not a whole lot of difference.
I have only really paid attention to their used prices, which obviously means they hold their value a lot more than other bikes.

If I had the cash I would definitely find a place in my garage for a K1200.
