1983 Yamaha Seca 400

#1 Unread post by Devan Zaruk »

Well I just purchased my first bike.... I wanted one I could "fix up" you know become one with the bike. I found a 1983 yamaha seca for $425 (I bargend down to $350 8) ) in the local classifieds. I went and looked at it and fell in love with it. It had been sitting for three years and had signifigant rust in the tank. So I delt with the rust using a special kit designed for tank rust removal and fixed that problem. Just got it running and now in the midst of tuning, though I still have a few items left on the list. Anyways Just wondering if any one out there owns one or knows some one that does and just looking for feed back or opinions on this bike. Maybe some advice for tuning?

I used to have an '82 Seca 650 -- don't know if that's of any help, but if you think I can assist with any questions, just ask them.

I had a bit of tank rust -- couldn't have been too much. I couldn't see it, though there were a couple of flakes one day. I had a liner put in the tank, figuring I would keep an eye out for a new one at a salvage yard. Before I had found one, I sold the bike. The liner cost about 100$, by the way.
