Anyone got any news other than Honda's own write up on the new for 06 599?
The good the bad or the ugly?

I kinda' like what I've seen so far...

I hope they get the price right this time. One of the reasons for the original 599's lack of success was that it was priced just $700 or so below the 919. With that slim a price difference, most prospective buyers were opting for the bigger bike, leaving the 599s sitting on showroom floors.

I was really impressed with the bike and it's performance, but if I'd been making a purchase decision, I'd have gone for the 919 in a heartbeat. It had way more bang for the buck.

If the selling price was much lower than the 919 it'd be a good deal?

Also, What about the Suzuki GSR600?
I know that the Honda 600 motor is just about as bullet proof as you can get with really easy adjustments...

What about the Suzuki????

I certainly thought so, as did most of my riding buddies. The 599 was intended to replace the Nighthawk in the mid-range naked/standard category. It's got huge technological and performance advantages over its predecessor, and they priced it accordingly. It kind of missed the mark for folks that want a quick, responsive midsize bike that has been tuned for everyday street riding (unlike the more radical sportbikes). When looking at the 599, then glancing at the 919 sitting next to it, you couldn't help but ask yourself, "Why wouldn't I just fork out the $700 for a boatload more performance (and EFI)."

Price is what is killing the 599. Its now $300 more than the '04 model and $600 more than the yammie FZ6 which competes with it. Great looking bike that is supposed to be a great ride, just too damn pricey.

sell this bike for $6500 and they would fly off the showroom floor. That is what Yamaha sells the FZ6 for and they cant sell em fast enough.

Also add EFI to the mix.

The 599 is manufactured in Europe since that is the naked's primary market, but the Euro to dollar conversion is killing them on it when they bring it stateside. If the 599 was being assembled here in the States or in Japan, they could knock of $500-$600 off the retail and the 599 would then be competitively priced.
