Icon Helmets

#1 Unread post by scotiadude »

Anyone out there own (or ever own) an Icon helmet?
My last couple of helmets have been HJC's (CL-12's) and Nolans before those, but I'm thinking of switching brands this summer.

The model I'm looking at is an Icon Alliance.

I've tried it on for size and am happy with the fit & price. However the more info I have the better - so, if anyone has any other information/opinions with regards to things like noise, long-term wear & comfort and overall satisfaction, I'd be glad to hear them.

Thanks!
If I kood spel.....I'd be danjerus

I liked the Icons, I almost bought one, but I found the KBC VR-1 fit my noodle better, so I went with it. If the Icon fit me as well, things might have been different, but my VR-1 is discontinued and saved me 150 bones over an Icon to boot, has fancy-shmancy Kevlar and Carbon Fiber in the shell, a nicer interior (IMHO anyway), so it was an easy choice.

But nuttin wrong wit da Icon...... as long as it fits you well.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

I really like my Icon Mainframe. It fit me the best out of everything I tried on... wind noise isnt bad at all. Actually, I can hardly tell Im wearing a helmet when riding... but that might be because I am focusing on the driving so much :)

My only gripe is initially it fogs a bit with the visor closed... but that goes away in a few minutes usually. I have been riding with it one click up for better airflow anyway....

Initial fogging happens with all helmets, due to temperature differential and the heat off your noggin vs the colder air outside.

Im in florida... it was hotter air outside...haha. But either way, I thought some were better about that than others. I have no real complaints about the helmet.

sure my icon was a quite a bit more expensive that the HJC i tried on, but it was definitely more comfortable so i bought it. i have not one complaint other than the visor fogging which is normal. i plan to buy some defogger for it.

If it fits properly and it's comfortable to you, then it's a good helmet. Except for those novelty helmets of course.

I bought an Icon Alliance/Damnation helmet a few months ago. It a really good mid priced helmet. The sizes seem to run small though.

I have an Icon Alliance Mainframe. I got it to match my bike color, but it is a good helmet. It generates a bit of wind noise, but nothing worse than any other sub $300 helmet.
