THH Helmets

I've been considering getting a THH helmet as a second helmet for passangers but their price is getting to me. I never thought I'd say I wouldn't buy something because the price is too low but that's the case here. Can a helmet so cheap really protect as it should? I can get one brand new for $44 shipped to my front door. It just sounds funny to me, but they are DOT approved. Just looking for some outside input.
