Bike Carriers

#1 Unread post by skooterj »

I was thinking about getting one of those hitch mounted bike carriers. I really like the looks of the VersaHaul. It looks really strong. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Most of the hitch carriers have a limit of 500lbs so be aware of that. I've seen people hauling dirt bikes with those before, but not a regular motorcyle since they normally weight more.

If you are still looking for a bike carrier then I would suggest HitchCarriers.com. They are very friendly and usually ship out the same day that you order.

Make sure your vehicle can support a tongue weight that high.

Don't know the brand, but the guy that bought my SV had a bike carrier on the back of his Jeep Cherokee. It loaded with no problem (well, took 3 of us to get it on there) and he said it would hold 600 pounds. So if you have a lighter bike and a vehicle capable of that kind of tongue weight, it might be worth it.
