thin padded helmets

#1 Unread post by le_r0umain »

Hi,

I'm looking for a half or open face helmet. So far I could only find helmets with like 1 inch of padding (that look funny on my head). Yet I can see bikers on the street with half helmets very close to their skulls. Where can I find such a helmet ?

In a novelty store.

It is highly likely that those 'skullcaps' or 'beanie' helmets that you are seeing are not DOT certified and would not protect your skull in a crash.

Get a proper DOT approved helmet. Your brain will thank you.

You can usually buy fake DOT and/or Snell stickers where the helmets are sold. Then you have the complete package of phony crapola. About the same protection as a heavy coat of hair spray or a winter hunting cap.
