Sort of strikes me as a salt-of-the-earth, urban granola girl -- flaws and all-- with a little of that in-your-face attitude but in a much gentler way than than say Ani Difranco - similar but different.

I really like The Emperor's New Clothes, and Last Day Of Our Acquaintance, and Mother with Roger Waters:

Wow, how did I miss this post??? Probably the same way I missed seeing this concert, I left Berlin the morning of the 21st July 1990. I won a trip to see Phil Collins in concert there and had an offer of free tickets from our tour guide for Rogers Waters doing the Wall at the Wall. Couldn't convince my wife, (I was married at the time,) to stay a day longer... :o(

Love Sinead O'Conner. She really has an emotive voice.

Im especially moved by songs that are not about trad relationship love
Suzanne Vegas Luca is an old classic and one of my all time faves.
She is so beautiful and so soulful and has the most exquisite voice. IMO.

I find there are a much larger number of female musicians/singers nowadays, doing phenomenal stuff.

I'm listening to Sia at the moment (Sia Furler). She has a mix of playful and more serious songs in her repetoire. The first CD of her's I picked up was "Some People Have Real Problems" :D

This tune, Breathe Me, has a neat video that I had never seen before today...

So I am a big American Idol fan (sorry, I know...) but last week they did "Songs that inspired you". I couldn't help but wonder why the country dude didn't sing this one... it's the most inspirational song I know...

Live Like You're Dying - Tim McGraw

I tripped across this old stuff in a round-about way... I was just watching the movie "Here and There" who's lead character is played by David Thorton, who, is Cyndi Lauper's husband, and she has a role in the movie... so then I was digging up some of her music...

A couple of tunes from the way-back machine with 1980's era music videos on youtube...

Time After Time

True Colors
