I've been thinking about a Bullet for commuting to work. I grew up riding Triumphs and BSAs so the 50s English design doesn't scare me much.

The bikes do have a certain appeal to them, that is for sure. I'm starting to like the old-school design and implementation of motorcycles more than the latest and greatest plastic-clad race replicas.

I would make time to tinker with one of 'em. They have so much low-tech character about them, you can't help but grin when you see 'em. I have this romantic notion of a guy spinning wrenches on the side of the road, wearing a railway engineer shirt and getting the machine working just right and enjoying both the process and the end result.

Great concept, real world execution probably involves doing it in the rain and getting burned hands.

Also, holy cow you can get Bullet hacks!

Is that black bar, attached to the fork leg, a steering dampner that attaches to the sidecar?

Sure looks like it to me.

I was at the store selling the bike pictured above, I just didn't look at it.

Doh!
