Skint Favours
Gorgeous really hot day here in Dorset. Am just itching to go & catch some cool breeze on the bike. Trouble is no fuel in the tank! Also no fuel in the car!
No brainer you might think ~ but am going away next weekend & money really tight so unfortunately it's one or the other.
Still no brainer?...........have offered colleague lift to work Sun & Mon (no trains/buses) & no way is she getting on back of my bike!
So car it is & the bike stays in the shed until payday on Thurs! But we are then away on bikes for week so roll on Thursday!
Moral of the story........don't offer favours if you are skint!!

Re: Skint Favours
Unleaded about £1.36 a litre! Really depressing when you put in £10.00 & then get only 8L.
Majority of price is UK fuel tax ~ about 70 per cent!!
Not sure how that works out in US$ but guess it's a lot more than you guys pay. So much for Kyoto!

Re: Skint Favours
Curiosity got the better of me, so I looked up last Saturday's price in the Bournemouth Echo, which was 135.15p / litre. Works out to $8.44 per gallon. That's more than twice what we're paying, and we thought we were very ill-used these days......

As I have said in other threads... Re: Skint Favours
Keep in mind our cities on the North American continent weren't designed to be walked around, they were designed around the car for the most part, so further distances are traveled when we do get into our cars/bikes. And also keep in mind that in most of our cities (especially mine) the public transportation is HORRIBLE.

What is this "public transportation" your talking about.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Heh in our city it consists of a bus line that misses approximately 1/2 of the city, gets none of the outlying areas, only runs once an hour, and only M-F 7-6.Johnj wrote:What is this "public transportation" your talking about.

Haha. That is so true. Little countries (by comparison) like Britain and Japan have much more extensive public transport services.
Gas here is 135 yen per liter right now ..is that about $5 a gallon?

Using this morning's yen-dollar rate, it's $6.24 per gallon. About 50% more expensive than my part of the USA (New Jersey).Hondagirl wrote:Gas here is 135 yen per liter right now ..is that about $5 a gallon?
It cost $15 to fill my Triumph Trophy this morning. I remember when I could fill a car for that!
