Fuel Pump Question

#1 Unread post by tlopeznm »

2005 Vstar 1100 - I disconnected the fuel line from the fuel pump where it goes to the carbs, it just spits a little gas, then after a pause it spits a little more gas then it take a long pause and spits a little more. Is that normal? Its a electric fuel pump and i thought it would be a constant flow. Any help is appreciated.

You're right, its not normal. Either it's filter is completely or the pump is out. Do you hear a high-pitched whirring when the key is turned on? If not my money is on the pump, if so then I'm betting on the filter.
