This has apparently been an issue since day one with the fly by wire system. There was a maintenance notice issued a few years ago that advises all owners to have the connection pins on the ECM checked every 8000mi, as apparently they become damaged over time especially if the bike is ridden on rough roads. In severe cases this will cause the engine to go into "limp" mode until it has been reset and/or repaired. You may want to consult with your dealer about this.
