sputtering when getting on throttle

#1 Unread post by Bigvtwin »

2005 Honda 750 spirit started cutting out and sputtering out of nowhere on a ride Saturday. It's my wifes bike and she said she got on the throttle to catch up with the group and it just started cutting out and didn't want to pick up speed. When I got it home I checked it out and it idles fine but one cylinder has a pop every once in awhile at idle but not bad. I check fuel filter and plugs can't find anything. Found a pinch in a carb vent tube and fixed it but that wasn't the cylinder with the problem. I'm thinking possible dirty jet. Have any ideas before pulling carb off. :shooting:

Hello Bryan, and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you know carb problems. You might want to try running some Seafoam® through it before tearing it down.

I'd like to see that big Kaw, how about a picture of it.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I came across another online motorcycle forum where someone mentioned using Seafoam. Does it work pretty good for removing internal varnishing and/or minor clogs?

That's cool. Thanks. I'll give that a try on mine and see how well it does before going through the hassle of taking the carbs off.
