Please help me with understanding a hydraulic clutch

#1 Unread post by N00dle »

Hi there. So I have a 1984 Honda Magna V30 with a problematic clutch. The hose ruptured (rubber just perished) and I fixed it again after a lot of struggling. While I was working, I was wondering, should I be able to press in the clutch rod that's connected to the slave cylinder? I know it presses against a pressure plate to make the clutch work, but should I be able to compress it with my hands? I tried and I couldn't, and I'm just curious. Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly, so please help me out.
Thanks :)

Yup what brumbear said! Those springs are about 25 pounds each, and there are usually 5 or 6 of them so around 125 to 150 lbs of pressure to activate it.
