won't stay running
Hi I have an 03 v star classic 650 . its been running fine. Today I started it up to go ride and it started then died and wouldn't even turn over. After a little checking I found the ingintion fuse was blew. OK I swaped the fuse out it started right ran for about 20 sec then quit. This happened 3 times. Something keeps blowing the ingintion fuse after it starts. Please help.

Re: won't stay running
Fuses blow to protect wiring from melting from passing too much current.
You probably have a hot wire (an energized wire) chafing against the frame somewhere shorting power to ground.
If you keep replacing the fuse you may be incrementally melting the wire.
If you replace the fuse with a bigger fuse you WILL melt the wire (and maybe worse)
Trace the wiring carefully under strong light and look for bubbled insulation or chafed off insulation against the frame.

Re: won't stay running
Sounds like the brushes in the starter may have Failed.
Check the Battery Voltage when trying to Start.
Tast the Battery with a Load Test, then Rule that Out.
If you get it started. Test the Voltage at the battery to insure the regulator is OK, then Rule that Out
I think its the Starter has shot craps.
