Ask away, no such thing as a stupid question, an example would be

why is it better to ride with the balls of your feet on the pegs ?

I've been finding out the answer to that one lately... My feet, (or boats as Mom calls them) have been dragging on the ground when I start to lean over decently. Never happened on my Volusia, but happens daily on my Z... haha.
Like SaPaul says, ask away!

How do I know when to change tyres?

Look on the side of your tire, and on the sidewall of it you'll see a triangle. That triangle points to the tread, and there is an extra piece of rubber in the tread above it. That's your Tread Wear Indicator (often called TWI). If your tread is at the same height as your TWI, it's time to change tires. A lot of people go past the TWI and that's very dangerous in conditions other than dry pavement.

If your chain has more than ¾ of an inch of slack, in the middle of it's run, you may need to adjust your chain.
If you can lift the chain off the sprocket and/or the teeth of the sprocket are hooked, you may need to change your chain and sprocket set.
