Chat room?

#1 Unread post by logitech104 »

Does anyone like the idea of having a chat room here? Would it even be possible? Would it cause bandwidth issues??
Would like some insight on the pros and cons if you don't mind. And your opinions.

I think it would be fun! :D

Used to have one... it never got used.

Then one member set up one on a different site... never got used.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I still think it is a great idea. I think the official chat room ended before I first found this site... and I somewhat remember the other user created chatroom. But I don't think it was advertised very well, or at least not like it should have been.

There are alot of new faces around now... it couldn't hurt could it?

But how hard is it to run some kinda mIRC room with a web-java client interface so ppl just have to click a button? I could see myself being in there during classes or whatnot...lol

I'd be on it anytime I was on the computer... which is, um... a ridiculous ratio of "computer time" to doing "normal stuff cool people usually do when living out their lives" time.

I think the driving force for activity on a chat room would be if people could find the address or get a redirect to it from somewhere within the tmw site. So people would know about it if they don't see one or two posts in a couple of threads talking about the room. And then, even if they did remember seeing the post about it somewhere... they would have a better time of connecting without writing down the address or other means to connect later.

Thats what happened to me with the other chat room... didn't get the address until it was to late.

at somepoint maybe mike will actually remove "The Chat Room" graphic from the menu at the top of the page, instead of taunting people to keep clicking it in the hope it suddenly becomes a link again

With ICQ, and Yahoo., etc., you could chat via those places. Add the link into your signature or something like that.
