Sounds like the carburetor may need rebuild/adjusting?

You are looking for a service/repair manuel? I suggest going to any bike shop that hires Hispanic or Mexican mechanics.
Always ask why.

i dunno about the carburetor...its clicking real loud near the back of the motor. there is a clip that rotates back and forth and the throttle cable leads directly behind it. also, there is a bar this clip sits on. the bar is prolly 3/8 diameter(rough guestimation).

Is it the motor clicking or the carb?

My 1st bike was a CB400T and after a CB750K I put almost 100k miles on a CM400A. Both with the same 400cc Hawk engine you have. I used this Clymers for both and it should cover your CM400C too: http://www.amazon.com/Clymer-250-450-19 ... B000NKPK3Y They were very durable bikes.
