Ninjai - Tail Kit

#141 Unread post by wrecks »

We've been working on a little Ninja. Unfortunately we couldn't figure out what was wrong with the signal light. Everything is wired correctly, no fuses were shorted out, and his relay was fine. We tested another Ninja with the Ninja we are working on and after replacing parts we found again nothing wrong. I think it might be time to go see 'Joe' at "City Cycle Werks". :humm:

Project - Ninja Tail Kit for Buddy

#143 Unread post by wrecks »

Well it seems Joecool found the problem with The little Ninjai's signal problem with the LED lights. Apparently the stock mechanical relay wasn't reacting well with the signals. So he did some research and found a different electrical relay that would work well with the LED signals (Kragen for $8.00). :D

Image
You can see the yellow relay which is the new one. I placed the old relay below for comparison. The old relay is the little black rubber box on the lower right.

This is the after picture of the tail kit with the LED blinkers.

Now the blinkers and LED light work perfectly. All this time I thought we were going to have to take the bike into a shop. Now to get the frame sliders in.

That looks good! Definitely get your frame sliders on, and get that exhaust looked at. I fear it may have the dreaded "stocker" disease. lol

Blue Tooth!!!

#145 Unread post by wrecks »

So I finally tested my Sena Blue Tooth intercom set up that I eluded to earlier. All I can say is Wow!!! :kicking: These things rock!!! I can carry a normal conversation at 75mph with another rider. Awesome!!! If anyone is looking to get a bluetooth set up I fully recommend the Sena Blue Tooth system.

The only cons I can think of is the range and only a max of 4 Bluetooth Pairings. Whether its another 3 people, your phone, or Ipod. If you are more that 900 meters then it tends to fade out with static until it automatically shuts off. Other than that its awesome! I don't plan losing site of the person Im talking to anyway.

Here's a picture of the product. The Sena "SMH 10". :clapping: Yay for technology!

Bad Body Position

#147 Unread post by wrecks »

It's a good thing to get your picture or video taken during your track days because you can learn a lot of things from them. For instance my picture below. It's turn 3 at Thunder Hill Raceway. Turn 3 is an off camber medium speed right hander. I have problems with off camber turns. I think for the most part it's mental. With the picture you can see me creating problems for myself. My hips are going in the right direction but my upper body is still centered instead of leaning right past my mid-line. Im also twisting into the bike which is a no no too. The only time im doing this is off camber turns.

Bad body position. :wallbash: I hate off camber turns!!!

This is turn 2 where i have better body positioning. It's natural, head up and looking ahead, leaning off natural from the center line.

Thats because you have to match the relay for the type of light you are using. The origional relays cant handle the "low power" requirements of the LED lights. Usually they just blink really really fast but sometimes you get what you got. We are upgrading all of our dock systems here at work to LED lighting and they have to hae a different Relay installed for all of them.
