You are doing some amazing work! Great job. You are an inspiration.
I'm planning on doing a Cafe conversion on my KZ. I have a Rickman Fairing going on and some Clubman bars. I like the look of your Carbon Fiber Seat, but I have a set of Shoei saddle bags I've grown to like, so the rear end is going to be tricky. Can a Cafe bike have Saddlebags?

I love the 2nd one. I say go for it.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

This is what I get for staying out of the blog section. What a great project! I liked your bike before, and didn't realize you were doing all this to it. I really looks fantastic. Hang tough with the electrical stuff..you'll figure it out. Good job! Super inspirational...Thanks for pointing me over here Rob.

Do you have an estimate on the weight reduction? Fenders gone, frame cut, light seat, gauges, battery gone...gotta be lighter...I'm guessing alot lighter! You can feel it, right?

Would you mind taking a nice profile shot of your 360? I would love to see a nice pic of it.

That is a real nice job you did on it! I wish I had the time to really dig into my KZ650... (Maybe over Christmas break). It is always inspirational to see other people working on their bikes!

mysta2,
I just have to say that you have inspired me on your great work. I'm looking on getting a similar bike, hopefully a CB350 and cafe'ied it.
I used to have a yamaha FZ700, its too heavy for me and a little high(i'm only 5'7).
some few questions, if you don't mind.
what is the seat height(to ground) right now?
do you have any sound clips of the muffler?
whats the approx. weight of the bike right now?
thanks,
cafenoob

The first concept says old school racer. The second says wild custom cafe/fighter.

Either one would rock. Though I would lean towards #2. And definately do the fairing in Carbon Fiber. Use a small projector beam light to fit in that fairing

BTW the ninja 250 does not have dual discs up front, though I think the 500 does.

Obviously I have been out of the game for a while, it's getting cold here and where I thought that would be a great opportunity to get some of the major jobs done, I've more found that the crummy cold wheather just discourages me from working in the garage and really from doing much at all...

...also I just bought an '06 monster 620 dark and have been spending all my free time riding that.

yeah, there's one on page 3

I can measure the seat as soon as I get home, I'm out in oregon right now visiting with family. No unfortunately I don't have any sound clips of the pipes (no mufflers), I wish I did though. I don't know the weight, as soon as I can get her running again I'm planning on taking her to a quarrey to get her weighed. Ever since I got her out on the freeway for a decent stint she hasn't wanted to start, I've been monkeying with the ignition trying to install a led system but it hasn't been working out.

CF would definiately be easier than aluminum... but not nearly as cool, I'm on the edge of giving up and doing that though. If I can figure out how to keep my neighbor from complaining that his apartment smells like a "goat factory" (and here I always thought that goats were grown in the wild...who knew) when I lay the epoxy.

yeah I know it doesn't. I just like that wheel

Great to read from you again. since I found out about your journal, i have been checking day by day of any update you have on your bike.
So its not running right now, is this a common problem on 350's?
Until now I haven't got any luck finding a 350, but seen a 450, and been asking the owner to sell it to me, still undecided.
good luck on your projects and I hope everything went well.
thanks!

Well my twins are 360s, and I think that's a common problem with any bike that's gone 30 years without any serious overhaul.

and because I see I'm getting dangerously close to a full page without any photos, here's one of my new distraction:

hope this doesn't spill onto the 5th page.
