Just got notice that the ABATE Davenport (Castle Run) has been moved to Ophir Creek campground.

Coming from Wetmore or Westcliffe routes make a right at bottom of hill just before Bishop's Castle.

Coming from San Isabel go past castle and make next left at Ophir Creek.

There is suppose to be a fire truck parked at turnoff.

Bikers to make 32nd Toy Run
Increased need spurs on bikers despite the frosty forecast for Saturday.
By GAYLE PEREZ
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN
Pueblo bikers will need to bundle up Saturday for the 32nd annual Pueblo Bikers United Toy Run.

"The weather forecast right now says it's going to be cold, but we're still going to be out there, come rain or shine," said PBU spokesman Mike Cisneros.

"We're making a challenge to Pueblo bikers to sacrifice one day of cold to warm a child's heart for Christmas," Cisneros said.

When the yearly motorcycle ride through Pueblo to benefit the local needy children kicks off at 10 a.m., the forecast calls for sunny skies but the temperature will be a frigid 29 degrees. The day's high temperature barely will reach 40 degrees.

"It doesn't look like it's going to be as warm as it was last year, but we're hoping we can get just as many bikers out there," Cisneros said. Last year, more than 1,300 bikers rolled through the city in what is believed to be the oldest toy run west of the Mississippi River.

The toy run again will start at the South High School parking lot and wend through the city before ending at Outpost Harley Davidson, 5001 N. Elizabeth St.

Spectators are encouraged to line the route to support the event.

Cost to ride is $1 per person. Event proceeds will be used to purchase additional toys that will be distributed to local needy children for Christmas.

The toys gathered at the run will be combined with those donated in October during the annual Toy Bowl benefit football game.

Cisneros said the need for toys this year has increased because of the tight economy.

"We want to be able to provide toys to everyone who needs them this year," he said.

He said the agencies will pick up the toys Sunday.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Toy Run may do so at PBU, P.O. Box 1, Pueblo, CO 81002.
