Just touching base with all those who love to go touring on mountain roads. Have done a few great road trips in the past few years, one in Spain and another in South Africa. Looking to follow up with something in Europe again in September this year that will take about 10 days to 2 weeks. Usually ride BMW GS 1200 two up.
Spain ride was through the Pyrenees mountains from Barcelona-Andorra and then back and forth across the border with France on a number of Tour de France type mountain passes....3 bikes in all and had a fabulous time winging along some of the best mountain roads you can imagine.
South Africa was 10 days around the Western Cape Province, half on road (tar as they say) and half on gravel roads. Went after the 20 mountain passes built by 19th century road engineer......amazing trip complete with cobra attack and wildlife all over the place.
Looking for suggestions for Central/Eastern European trip starting from Zurich. Any comments?
