It was a nice sunny day in the 80s yesterday so I went to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania--one of my more ambitious rides. Going up, I took the twisty mountain routes with lots of parts through state forests.
Here's the route: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie ... 5cc5fb&z=8.
It was great except for those portions where the roads hadn't been repaved since the Truman administration (something Pennsylvania is very bad about). Went through some gorgeous country.
I got a late start in the morning because we had a heavy fog that didn't burn off until 9:30 and then got lost in the final ten miles before arriving because my GPS wanted to route me on to gravel roads over the last mountain, so it was nearly 4 when I started back, so I just high-tailed it on Route 15 which runs down the left bank of the Susquehanna then picked up Interstate 81. It wasn't nearly as fun as the mountain routes, but I made good time. The total ride was 345 miles, much of it fairly challenging, so I was pretty shot when I got back.
