Blueridge/276N/215S/BRPW/441S/19W/28N to129 Deals Gap

#1 Unread post by 1poser »

From Asheville, NC jumped onto the Blueridge Parkway heading towards US441, taking a couple of detours on 276N which is really tight and fun the southern route takes you to Brevard and that's not as tight with more traffic to deal with, then conected to 215S which was very tight and bumpy (it's well traveled so maintenance on it is scarce) but still lot's of fun on the Duc.

Back on the Blueridge til it ends on US441 then south to Cherokee, Bryson hwy 19 to 28N, 28 to Deals Gap is really rhythmic and a great prelude to the Tail. Did the Tail Of The Dragon a couple of times and when I would catch up to traffic and see a photo opp set-up on a corner I'd spinner around and do a couple of passes to strike a pose :D

Had lunch at Deals Gap Cafe, a couple more passes then headed back down 28 to Fontana Village. Here's a couple of shots from the Dragon;

Nice photos, did you have someone stand at the side of the road as you went by to take them?

Been wanting to ride Deals Gap, but it's a little far for me right now. :(

Thanks Mike, I got the pics taken from 129slayer.com and killboy.com they set-up at certain corners and when I noticed them I'd hook a U and make a couple passes.

Thanks mog, it's a really fun bike to throw around and the torque is awesome :)

Neat stuff and smart thinking. :D

I noticed your list of bikes (I mean, who doesn't, lucky guy!) any you would call your "top 3" of them all?

Good question Mike and an often asked one,
I'd have to say the #1 was the BMW GS1200 for it's all around 3 bikes in 1...fun off road & surprisingly agile for it's size, powerful enough to cruz triple digits smoothly and can handle the twistees as aggresive as you can push her. I did 2 IBA rides on her, 1500 mi. in 24hrs and the 50CC (IBA allows you 50hrs coast to coast) which I did in 38hrs from Pacific Beach, CA to Atlantic Beach, FL.

#2 would be the Honda Valkyrie Rune, by far the most appealing attention getting machine, she handled great and the power, 1800 opposing six cylinder...well...enough said. She didn't handle at all off road though...believe me I tried.

#3 is the Concours 1400...FAST-FAST-FAST and she handled great also, especially when I switched to Pilot Road 2 tires. Did I say FAST?
