Hi! I'm new to the forum and just upgraded to my first touring bike! I'm looking forward to more day trips since it's warming up around here. Curious what a good "first" distance ride would be. My heart tells me I could handle a 400 mile trip, but my mind is saying," Don't bite off more than you can chew."

Suggestions?

Monica

Hello Monica, and welcome to the forum. 400 mIles should be easy by now :kicking: . How about a picture of that Road King?

Yeah I'll get a few pics up once I figure out how to make them the right size.

I'd rather be on the road than dabbling on my iPhone. If it wasn't for my job, I would be!
Hope SOMEBODY's enjoying this weather...

Welcome Monica, most welcome.

I rode 1060 miles on the first day I had my new motorcycle after over thirty years without a motorcycle. Do you want my advice on how far to ride? My best advice is to explore your own comfort zone and to decide for yourself how far you should ride under the various conditions you will experience as you ride.

Lots of people hate riding on superslabs, but it does not bother me in the least and I truly enjoy watching a lot of country go past as I just sit there and twist that.

What kind of riding do you enjoy most? That is a question that only you can answer and will be perhaps the largest factor in how many miles you will decide to ride in a day. If you are not having fun, then you are doing something wrong.

When you get a chance, please post pictures of your new H-D.

Safe Travels,
Richard

Wow! I don't know if I'd be up for that long of a ride. I think there's an iron-butt ride for people with such stamina! I wouldn't make a good soldier, either, though. Gotta know your limits, right?

I'm still trying to compress bike photo for my avatar with no luck. Now what?

Still getting sprinkled on down there or have the clouds and rain dissipated for the year? Lived in FW for 10 years, and family/friends all still there.
