Amazing!

If gas/petrol gets too high in cost, maybe the next thing will be steam bikes?! :D

It was great! It kept me partially not-soaked. Back in those days ATGATT meant wearing some sort of helmet.

Somewhere in my sister's basement there is a picture of me on my old BSA 441, but she's too lazy to dig it out, and I'm an ocean away.

Ah, reminds me of my old 1982 Yamaha Seca 650R... if it was offered new again I'd buy it (again).

3 Reds in a Row. My XJ650R looks great next to the new Ducati and Honda VTR considering it's old enough to be their bike's grandfather! haha.

(That's High_Sides VTR back then BTW)

The XR is great! It has twice the horsepower and torque of my last bike, a Moto Guzzi Nevada, so it scoots along quite nicely. At idle and slow rpms it shudders and shakes like my old Norton Commando did, but over 3000 rpms it smooths right out so riding along the highway at any legal speed it's very relaxed and comfortable. I don't know how fast it will go; at 150 km/hr it still has plenty left.

It took me a while to get used to the weight of it, but once under way it handles well, and it's very stable on the highway. I was on a rented Suzuki GS500 last week in Tenerife and thought every passing bus and truck was going to blow me off the road. :crash:
