Wonder how hard it would be to streetfighter this thing? Maybe lighten it a bit in the process?

Hyperr, you hate that plastic so much it just makes me smile. I don't disagree, but your exuberance makes me grin.

Hyperr's right, it's ugly. The new CB1100F shows what Honda could have done.... but they went and grabbed for their ugly stick instead.

Thank you! Exactly! They could have made a beautiful naked ala CB1100F or a beautiful retro cafe ala the late GB500. But they had to ruin it (and increase the cost) with its mfugly plastic that serves no purpose.

I'm stoked to see the manufacturers get back into making affordable, well built, low displacement motorcycles. Seeing them come out from all the manufacturers is awesome. However, Honda seems to have gone all out with all their new low displacement bikes.

I had to go with: AWESOME

Awesome for Honda bringing back the mid-sized bike, awesome for offering something other than a cruiser or a sportbike, awesome for making it affordable ($5399?? YA!), awesome for looking into the future enough to say, hey, let's start out riders on something not only cool, but also something they can ride for many years too.

The CB500F, could have been the retro naked CB500F of the past, but it's not, it's the cool, retro, CB500F of the future. The design may not be my cup of tea, but it's obviously what the younger new riders want and I can accept that as it will bring them into the joys of motorcycling in droves... just like the old naked UJM's did we all remember.

Still, way to go Honda and thank you. BTW, The "F" always stood for "Four" as in Four Cylinders and "F" as in Sport model.

I just have to vote Awesome on this one. I love smaller bikes and this is a great option for newer riders or those who are wanting a smaller commuter bike. It's not too big, not too pricy, and looks great - what's not to love? Okay, maybe it's a "bit" heavy at 420 lbs, when you can get a 750cc that weighs about the same... but I think that's liveable. It looks awesome and should appeal to a broad audience.

Way to go Honda... and may your competitors keep up with similar models!
Andrea :sun:

Great job all! Another record setting amount of votes in just one week! And after one week here we go:

Your Coolness Factor of the 2013 Honda CB500F is...

Awesome 46%
Cool 44%
Uncool 8%
Fail 2%

Overall, people really like the new CB500F and new 500 series of Honda motorcycles! Some would like to see a completely naked or even retro version as well, but no matter which Honda 500 series bike you choose you are sure to enjoy a great bike at a great price.

Up next on the Cool Wall is another Honda, the new Honda Gold Wing F6B as suggested in our "Suggest a Cool Wall Bike" thread.

Enjoy
