I voted: Awesome
To me, it is the original naked bike that was a step above a UJM. Basic, light and fast. Too bad about the early ones had such a high running cost, but then Ducati was very exclusive, today Ducati is more "Italian mainstream", but still different enough to stand out. Quality and maintenace costs have improved but has it lost some of it's soul and charater? Well, there are definately more monster's on the road today, but I'd still like to see more.
That said I've always had a soft spot for the monster, it's a light weight minimalistic naked bike with a torquey engine. Unfortunately despite my best efforts I cannot conform myself into the right pretzel shape to fit on it (due to my height mainly).
And yes, High_Side, this one's for you.

Re: This week: 2013 Ducati Monster 696 20th Anniv: Vote Now
Well, after a pic-a-mix bag of voting the one thing we all seem to agree upon is the Ducati Monster is indeed very cool, but it's coolness factor has been slipping, not because of it's rider base but because of Ducati. Still, it's a solid bike overall and with some more graft can be sorted out properly.
