I mean, obviously, awesome right? How could this beast be anything else?
At first blush. But what is it about motorcycling that makes it awesome for me? What else is awesome?
The throaty rumble-pop of exhaust as you decelerate down a steep decline in I-15's picturesque Snake River Canyon between St. George and Mesquite.
An ocean of lights unfolding before you as you come off that final left-hander in the Valley of Fire and make the descent into the Las Vegas Valley.
Riding RT-35 through Tabonia and passing fields still blanketed under two feet of snow in July.
A crisp, cool rainburst on a 90 degree day, rain stinging on your shoulders and streaking off the knees of your chaps.
Or leaving Ogden on a hot summer day and taking a ride that, although is only an hour long, ends on a cool autumn afternoon at the Upper Monte Cristo campground. And then riding backwards through time into summer after stretching your legs. Time travel on two wheels.
Those things, to me, are the essence of motorcycling. And the bike that does them well looks and acts nothing like the Brutale. I can't deny this bike is stunning, exciting, sexy and impressive. But it doesn't SPEAK to me, and for that reason, UnCool.

the only question I have is why? Why build such an ugly POS? Why build a bike that is neither a track machine nor a comfortable street machine? Sorry, but there are more then a few really good looking and more useful power machines out there. Big a$$ed fail for me.

Cool. I like the technology, I like that MV Augusta is still kicking after being "dog" slapped by Harley. I'm not too keen on the Transformers styling (I keep waiting for it to turn into a robot with the tailpipes morphing into three cannons), but then again the whole streetfighter genre isn't about looks.

I like the looks, unique and yes it might transform. Over 18 grand is a lot of money for an 800cc motorcycle that is not a touring rig. It still looks like it would be a lot of fun to ride.

What's up with MV Agusta? This is the second time in two months I've voted down a MV Agusta bike for stomach-turning ugliness (remember the Veloce we reviewed right before Christmas?) Can't believe this is the same company that brought us the original F4.
I also read a review of the 800 Brutale in my favorite motorcycle mag. They panned the ragged fuel injection and two-stroke-like power band hit. That bike is barely usable on the street, and I can't imagine this version of the Brutale is any different.
Uncool.

Well, it certainly has a look. That's my problem with it; that's what it's for. This is the ultimate poser machine. Not useful for touring, commuting, racing nor, god forbid, on-off road. It's useful for burning rubber (something I've never understood) and making people look at you (because normally they don't pay any attention to you otherwise). Harsh words I know. But can you really see yourself try to do anything for longer than 5 minutes on that thing? I can't. I'll admit the first minute would be a blast. But that's a lot of dough for a minute's pleasure at a time.
And they don't know how to spell "deafening" either.
