It's bizzare that he has two of them still brand new; I wonder what the story behind it is... :boat:

Being that it's a base and not an S or an R, they're probably going to find it hard to get that kind of coin for it. Unlike say a BMW which are usually ridden hard and put away wet, many Ducs have pampered lives so it's not that difficult to find a pristine 999 anyways...

Just noticed I am the only one who voted FAIL. Look, I know this is a Ducati and it was probably faster than heck and better than most everything else on the market at the time, but this bike was beaten by the ugly stick! I would almost rather ride a fugly Diavel than this one. The mirrors, headlight, squarish tank and huge wall of a fairing... FAIL!

I voted: Uncool.

But who voted Fail? Wow, that's harsh...LOL! :sofa:

Ducati has recently (in the past 10 years) had a very odd success relationship with their superbike lines. Fail/Success/Fail/Success/Fail kind of thing. 996 was great, then the 999 wasn't a great hit for sales or design, but the 1099 was, now the current 1199 Panigale isn't, which means the new 1299 Panigale should be successful.

Ducati really reaches for the stars when it comes to design and technology. I think it's more of an issue that the bike isn't "ready for today's tastes" but for tomorrows. With Ducati now owned by Audi (?) things will change, but what type of change is anyone's best guess. If the new Monster's and 1299 are any indication, we could be looking at the pro/con of more affordable Ducati's with less edge.

Your Coolness Factor of the 2005 Ducati Superbike 999 is:

Awesome (3 points) 52% [ 13 ]
Cool (2 points) 36% [ 9 ]
Uncool (1 point) 8% [ 2 ]
Fail (0 point) 4% [ 1 ]

Total votes: 25

= a Coolwall Factor of 78.7%

NOTES: Wow, where do you start on a bike that is so varied in rider's eyes? Clearly our readers love it, it's a great bike that's aged very well, historically it wasn't and didn't sell well in it's day, but Ducati's superbikes have always been a hit/miss/hit/miss. So it's not surprising Ducati seems to be as confused on direction as rider's are. That said, Ducati continues to produce all good bikes, just some are better (and worse) than others, but that's what happens when you set the bar so high.

The FIRST 2015 TMW Cool Wall bike is now up for voting on, have fun!
