TOTAL MOTORCYCLE COOL WALL - 2015 RESULTS

WHAT ARE THE 2015 RESULTS?
This is how the voting has turned out for all models that appeared on the Total Motorcycle Cool Wall in 2015.

HOW ARE THESE FINAL RESULTS DETERMINED?
The final Total Motorcycle Cool Wall cool factor results are determined by public vote, debate and review in the Total Motorcycle Cool Wall forum. To determine the fate of a model up for placement on the TMW Motorcycle Cool Wall just vote, debate and participate in the discussion.

Here's how we are improving our math. Every time you vote Awesome you are giving the bike 3 points. Cool gives 2 points, Uncool gives 1, and Fail gives zero. At the end of the voting week we will mulitply the number of votes in each category by the points for that category and then derive an average voting number, out of 3, for that bike. Finally, we will then normalize this average voting number against the maximum possible of 3 to give the bike a standing from 0 to 100. (Zero would mean 100% Fail votes while 100 would mean 100% Awesome votes.)

The standardization of all bikes to a scale of 0 to 100 will now give the opportunity to rank the entire year's list of bikes for the year. And best of all, it allows each and every vote to have meaning to the tally.

Here's an example:
Awesome: 8 votes x 3 points = 24 points
Cool: 12 votes x 2 points = 24 points
Uncool: 3 votes x 1 point = 3 points
Fail: 2 votes x 0 points = 0 points
Sum total: 51 points
Total number of votes: 25
Average points per vote: 51/25 = 2.04
Standardized to a maximum of 3 points: 2.04/3 x 100 = 68
...Therefore, this bike ranks a Coolwall Factor of 68!

Yeah, we know, the math looks a bit complicated, so if you don't care to figure it out then just remember - EVERY VOTE COUNTS - so get voting!

See our Total Motorcycle Cool Wall Page: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcyclecoolwall.htm for the ranking of all the bikes that have appeared on the Motorcycle Cool Wall.

REMEMBER: New models are placed on the TMW Cool Wall every Friday!

2015 Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen Concept - Coolness Factor = 60.0%
Featured: January 2nd, 2015 - January 9th, 2015
Most popular vote category: Cool

Motorcycle Cool Wall discussion: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=50587
Total Motorcycle model page: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcyc ... oncept.htm

Your Coolness Factor of the 2015 Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen Concept is:

Awesome (3 points) 27% [ 7 ]
Cool (2 points) 38% [ 10 ]
Uncool (1 point) 19% [ 5 ]
Fail (0 point) 15% [ 4 ]

Total votes: 26

= a Coolwall Factor of 60.0%

NOTES: Husqvarna explores the street bike market once again with 3 new concepts (The 401 Vitpilen is one of those). Futuristic, angled, minimalistic, like modern art on two wheels. Not everyone's cup of tea, but one would be hard pressed to say they didn't like at least 1 design element of the bike. Like any concept, you have to start somewhere. Good to see Husqvarna trying something new and going that far out on a limb, hopefully we will see a radical street bike from Husqvarna in the future.

2015 MV Agusta Turismo - Coolness Factor = 68.0%
Featured: January 9nd, 2015 - January 15th, 2015
Most popular vote category: Awesome/Cool

Image

Motorcycle Cool Wall discussion: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=50623
Total Motorcycle model page: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcyc ... so-800.htm

Your Coolness Factor of the 2015 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce Lusso 800 is:

Awesome (3 points) 38% [ 10 ]
Cool (2 points) 38% [ 10 ]
Uncool (1 point) 12% [ 3 ]
Fail (0 point) 12% [ 3 ]

Total votes: 26

= a Coolwall Factor of 68.0%

NOTES: Top of the line Sport Tourer, from a top of the line manufacturer with top of the line features/styles/technology to match but with a top of the line price as well. It's impossible not to see something on the new 2015 MV Agusta Turismo you don't like, but the overall package might be too much icing on the cake. A 68% cool factor is pretty sold and it should "sell well" for a bike in it's price category, but MV needs to do more to rank it higher.

2015 Vespa Primavera 150 3V - Coolness Factor = 60.3%
Featured: January 15th, 2015 - January 23rd, 2015
Most popular vote category: Cool

Image

Motorcycle Cool Wall discussion: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=50668
Total Motorcycle model page: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcyc ... 150-3V.htm

Your Coolness Factor of the 2015 Vespa Primavera 150 3V is:

Awesome (3 points) 31% [ 8 ]
Cool (2 points) 38% [ 10 ]
Uncool (1 point) 12% [ 3 ]
Fail (0 point) 19% [ 5 ]

Total votes: 26

= a Coolwall Factor of 60.3%

NOTES: Our readers have spoken, without doubt, the Vespa is the coolest scooter on the road. But the new 2015 Vespa Primavera 150 3V adds that little bit extra with a new high tech engine, frame and suspension. For the price of a few Starbucks coffee's you have a ride that never gets cold. I'm a little sad to see 5 fail votes without any explanation though, but they have been counted in. If you vote fail on any model, that's a strong opinion and I'm sure others would like to know your thoughts on why. Without the fail votes, the 2015 Vespa Primavera 150 3V would shoot up to 74.6% cool, which would have netted it #15th coolest ride in 2014!

2015 Victory Vision Tour - Coolness Factor = 47.1%

Most popular vote category: Uncool

Image

Motorcycle Cool Wall discussion: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=50703

Your Coolness Factor of the 2015 Victory Vision Tour is:

Awesome (3 points) 17% [ 5 ]
Cool (2 points) 28% [ 8 ]
Uncool (1 point) 34% [ 10 ]
Fail (0 point) 21% [ 6 ]

Total votes: 29

= a Coolwall Factor of 47.1%

NOTES: Once, the Victory Vision was an outstanding vision Victory had, but how times have changed! Are you surprised at a lowly 47% Cool Factor for the Victory Vision? I was! But that's the great thing about the TMW Cool Wall, it really flushes out the pre-conceived image of a bike, model or manufacturer. Sometimes what you envision what is cool, just isn't to the majority of riders, and that's fine, at least you then know it and move on. Isn't the Cool Wall great?

2015 KTM 1290 Super Adventure - Coolness Factor = 76.5%

Your Coolness Factor of the 2015 KTM 1290 Super Adventure is:

Cool (2 points) 38% [ 13 ]
Uncool (1 point) 12% [ 4 ]
Fail (0 point) 3% [ 1 ]

Total votes: 34

= a Coolwall Factor of 76.5%

NOTES: An outstanding result for KTM's new adventure touring bike, the 2015 KTM 1290 Super Adventure. Lots of love from our readers, saying they like the "Star Wars" like design, a more street focused KTM and 160hp is awesome. But it wasn't all gravy as it's expected to be heavy and high in maintenance costs... Personally, I'd like to see lighter, less powerful versions, but overall, big, powerful adventure bikes look like they are not going anywhere soon.

2015 Yamaha FJ-09 - Coolness Factor = 79.8%
Featured: February 6th, 2015 - February 13th, 2015
Most popular vote category: Tie Awesome/Cool

Image

Motorcycle Cool Wall discussion: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=50775
Total Motorcycle model page: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcyc ... a-FJ09.htm

our Coolness Factor of the 2015 Yamaha FJ-09 is:

Awesome (3 points) 47% [ 18 ]
Cool (2 points) 47% [ 18 ]
Uncool (1 point) 3% [ 1 ]
Fail (0 point) 3% [ 1 ]

Total votes: 38

= a Coolwall Factor of 79.8%

NOTES: The adventure/dual sport motorcycle market is getting quite crowded recently. Gone are the days of "KLR650, Honda XR650L or Suzuki DR650SE" and now today's rider has, maybe, too many choices? The FJ-09 triple engine enters the market and makes a big splash, great for tall riders, a nice mid-sized engine, good sized gas tank and a light weight. Price could be better and the seat could be nicer but overall, a really nice bike.

2015 Moto Guzzi V7 II Special - Coolness Factor = 85.7%

Your Coolness Factor of the 2015 Moto Guzzi V7 II Special is:

Awesome (3 points) 57% 57% [ 16 ]
Cool (2 points) 43% 43% [ 12 ]
Uncool (1 point) 0% 0% [ 0 ]
Fail (0 point) 0% 0% [ 0 ]

Total votes: 28

= a Coolwall Factor of 85.7%

NOTES: 85.7%, Moto Guzzi is going to be very pleased with this outstanding rating for the new V7II model range. With new ABS and traction control and really no increase in cost, it's pretty amazing Guzzi can even offer this model for the price! Like hot cakes they should be going fast at a dealer near you. On a side note, last year the 2014 Moto Guzzi V7 Racer received a vote of 92.31% (September 26th - October 3rd, 2014).

2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse - Coolness Factor = 57.0%

Your Coolness Factor of the 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse is:

Cool (2 points) 29% [ 9 ]
Uncool (1 point) 26% [ 8 ]
Fail (0 point) 16% [ 5 ]

Total votes: 31

= a Coolwall Factor of 57.0%

NOTES: We almost had our first 4 way tie on the Cool Wall with the new 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse! It's definitely controversial in design and offered at a price to get riders into the Indian Chief line that won't break the bank. But readers are very split if they love it or hate it. If you think if this affordable Indian as a blank canvas with a low cost maybe it isn't so bad. I know I'm looking forward to see what comes from Indian this year...

NOTES: Sure it looks good. Sure it received a solid cool. Sure it's really 80% the same bike it was 10 years ago. But it has aged really well and is still a real looker and goer. Yup, prime for some mechanical and performance updates, but Honda, please don't touch the exterior too much.
