I sat on this bike at the bike show. It's available in the colour above....preferable to me since I have no interest in a red motorcycle....unless it's the Honda 700.

I give it a cool....until I've had a chance to demo ride it.

If you get a chance before I do, post your thoughts about it... I still can't believe Yamaha is making 3 Cylinder's again... crazy.

For me, I'm all over the red one, Yamaha red (to me) is a really slick colour.

Red is faster I hear. It looks like a do-a-lot-of-things bike with enough power to do it quickly.

I like the red one. Cool

Its expensive and the foot pegs could be in a
more neutral position for me...

This thing's great! Standards that have a small fairing-mounted windshield are super useful. It reminds me of a more grown up version of Suzuki's Bandit and SV650, the Kawasaki Ninja 650R and original Versys (arguably the first "tall rounder" bike), and Yamaha's own FZ6. You get some sportiness, some weather protection, and a comfortable seating position. I figure the FJ-09's tall styling gives a rider even more legroom and a more upright posture. The 850cc engine size has a bit more punch for freeways and touring, and a triple just adds character. What else do you need?

I sat on one at the motorcycle show in December. I wasn't blown away by it. Both the Tiger 800 and the Vstrom 650 feel better balanced, and more "integrated" (hard to explain). Having yet another choice is fine, so it gets a Cool and good luck to Yamaha, but it's an already crowded niche.

I like it, but the seat feels like granite. I'll therefore only give it a cool...
