American Muscle...

We’ve taken everything that was great about the Softail Slim® and added a little more. For starters, we’ve added power with a Screamin’ Eagle® Air-Cooled Twin Cam 110B™ engine. We’ve taken the military theme even further with an awesome Olive Gold Denim paint option and made the rest black to the core. Black triple clamp and riser, gloss black headlamp ring, fork slider covers and lower forks. Black brake levers, mirrors and black over/under shotgun exhaust with slash cut muffler. Every inch is modern power with old iron attitude.

Nothing gets more respect on the street than power. So when we built the new Softail Slim® S, we loaded it up with the most powerful engine you can get in cruiser this year.

The classic look of a hardtail and the comfort, handing and rideability of a modern motorcycle combine seamlessly in Harley-Davidson Softail models to deliver a smooth ride. The entire Softail® family is reinvigorated with exciting performance upgrades and updates for 2016, including the High Output Twin Cam 103B engine, electronic throttle, and standard or available electronic cruise control. Limited-edition Fat Boy® S and Softail Slim® S models combine rich finishes with the Screamin’ Eagle® Twin Cam 110™ engine to deliver a complete package of big power and cutting-edge style to riders who want to stand out.

BRAND NEW for 2016, in fact, the whole Harley-Davidson S Fat Custom line is as well!

Special note: The S Line comes equipped with the Screamin' Eagle® Air-cooled, Twin Cam 110B™... this is the first time the 110B engine has been used outside of the CVO line.

Enjoy!

Mike

I think it is a great looking bike. Has a gear indicator and tach (is this new for Harley?). Most powerful cruiser? I think they mean that Harley makes. Cruise control is nice.

Military paint job is a non-starter for me. But I am not in the Harley owner demographic.

Definitely a Harley. The ones I've ridden have had too much vibration to consider them for anything more than booting downtown. Have I been riding the wrong ones?

I'm not into cruisers at all, but this gets a solid cool from me. Looks great, and lots of power. 24 degrees of lean angle on either side is a bit of a bummer though.

I voted: Awesome

There are not many Harley-Davidson motorcycle models I vote awesome for, most earn a solid cool (with some rare fails in the mix). But the new 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S Fat Custom I like a lot. It's not the paint job (more on that later) but that you get a CVO "lite" at just $3,600 more than the base model plus that all important 110 engine, and trust me, that 110 vs the 103 (or the 98) makes a big enough difference. Now you might say, what a sec, the new 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S Fat Custom is updated with the 103 HIGH OUTPUT version (see below).

So I like it, but I'm not sure about the paint job. This bike is sold worldwide with the same paint and I'm not sure if riders (who are not American/Pro-American) really want a WWII USA paint job on it riding around in their country (the white star on green was USA in WWII). I do like the design of it and personally think it's cool, but it's a little market limiting wouldn't you say?

2015 Air-cooled, Twin Cam 103B™
Engine Torque 97.4 ft-lb

vs

2016 Air-Cooled, High Output Twin Cam 103B
Engine Torque 100.3 ft-lb

vs

2016 Screamin' Eagle® Air-cooled, Twin Cam 110B
Engine Torque 109 ft-lb

...I'll let you decide for yourself there.

and the prices:

2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S Fat Custom: $18499 USD / $21499 CDN
vs
2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim $14899 USD / $17399 CDN

+ 3,600 USD / 4,100 CDN

Overall, I really love the new S Fat Custom line and I hope Harley-Davidson expands it to include many other models or makes it an option on ANY model.

Mike

Total Motorcycle model page: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcyc ... Custom.htm

Your Coolness Factor of the 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S Fat Custom is:

Awesome (3 points) 46% [ 12 ]
Cool (2 points) 31% [ 8 ]
Uncool (1 point) 19% [ 5 ]
Fail (0 point) 4% [ 1 ]

Total votes: 26

= a Coolwall Factor of 73.1%

Notes: Lots of power, great custom looks, new Screamin' Eagle® Air-cooled, Twin Cam 110B engine and for just $3 or $4k more vs 100% more for a CVO model. I'm definitely thinking Harley-Davidson did a good thing by introducing the S Fat Custom line, hopefully they make it an option for all bikes in the future.

Get excited as the next TMW Cool Wall bike is now up for voting and discussion, have fun!

Fail. 2-wheeled art that is somewhere between impractical and ludicrous for anything else. Doesn't handle, has a pounding, kidney-hammering ride on anything worse than a glass-smooth highway, engine is a throwback to 1930 and a hand grenade with the pin pulled.
